  • Is this a joke thread
  • Been unimpressed from the start, not a team player, lazy.

Phew Large so long since we have had something to really disagree about ;-)

I like Fuller, but if we were to maximise his ability for the benefit of the team we would have a half decent midfield and play the ball on the deck. Some great hold up play and lay offs and that is when he has two / three players straight on him

  • It's so easy to blame the aging, ex prem star and accuse him of not caring instead of opening your eyes What happened to the scapegoat thread.
  • I guarantee if Fuller played for any other Championship side he'd be a massive threat consistently. It's our pathetic midfield, which is one of the worst in the country, which is to blame.

He has shown the ability to score goals out of nothing like Peterborough at home. He gets awful service. Simple as that. The same reason loads of strikers don't look as good when they play for us. Falcao would even struggle at Charlton.
  • Falcao would be playing left wing if he was playing for Charlton
  • Was good away to Watford too. Seems to play better away from home, sound familiar?

    That's the one I remember best, sidcup-red.

  • WAtford was certainly his best game. Yesterday was his worst. Hope he hasn't lost a bit of interest not being selected recently. Important he performs next 2 games.
  • It must be a nightmare for any forward playing in our team at the moment, completely demoralising. The service is non existent and they are taking a battering every week for no reward. Kermy and Fuller are the wrong side of thirty and they need to playing alongside a younger quicker partner. Fuller is a class act who any other team in this division would love to have. We are not getting the best out of him, that's not his fault.
  • A few times in the first half I noticed him pointing to his feet and looking at a teammate after another high ball had come in and gone away.

Saturday was not his best but he has had some games where he has been excellent and unplayable at times. I think it is partly about service, but also Burnley have some big tough defenders and Fuller does best when he has more of a physical advantage. On Saturday we played three up front but Haynes and Obika played as if they were wingers (not good ones btw) and Fuller needed a striker playing off him in that game.

I suspect the plan was for the full backs to push up more and act as wing backs and have Dervite drop into defence as required with the three strikers playing closer together and higher up the pitch, but it largely didn't work. To be fair, I think that whilst Haynes had a couple of headers, Fuller was the better of the forwards in that game.

I supsect Chrissy will play one up front against Posh and Fuller will be that one!
  • Fuller was involved in the build ups to two of the three chances created for Haynes. Fuller also made one good run but tried to beat a man to many, dont think anyone has come out of the last month smelling of roses and its harsh to blame fuller. We have signed an guy in his 30's who got released from a below average premier league team but people expect 30 goals a seasn from him, although I agree that for the salary he is on he should show a bit more passion

Or if we were still under Parky, on the bench because the rest of the team weren't as good as him. ;-)
  • How strange the best fullers played for us away at Watford is the last game we really got it down, in a 4-4-2, and played good passing football.

I 100% agree with all he has said. The style of football we play wouldn't even see falcao get 20 goals in a season.
The service our strikers get is pathetic.
  • He was immense in the first half against Palace - they couldn't handle him.

    Bang on :)
  • Is it fitness or coaching , had high hopes for him , his performances have dipped considerably since the Palace game , hope he can stay professional and raise his game again & be the 'hero' that sees us safe in this division.

A message for Ricardo , please don't try and do it all mate , reminds me of the annoying kid in the playground that was half decent , but would never pass the ball.

Normally, I would agree but with our inept midfield what else is he supposed to do?

Wait for another ball hoofed into the ozone or drilled at his Adam's apple.

He strikes me as a class player happy to do his bit for the team but getting very frustrated at our style of play.

  • Yeah i guess he's feeding on scraps Grumps.
  • He's nothing like Jimmy, he couldn't even fill his shorts

Yeah i guess Jimmy was feeding on anything that moved.

  • Poor old Jimmy .... He pretty well summed up our whole season that year by scoring against Chelsea then apologising to the Chelsea fans - waste of space and a pretty big space that was as well
  • And the only comparison you can make between Fuller and Jimmy is they both could on their day unplayable .... But in a completely different context
  • He isn't the sort of player we can expect to go steaming around chasing defenders down, he never has been.

Fuller is a class player but since his arrival due to injury or squad rotation he has been inconsistant.
  • We really need to be building the team around a player like him, if he could keep fit and we played how he wanted us to, im sure he would bang them in for fun.
