Ralph Milne always looked overweight when he played for us..still managed to score against us when he played for Manure. Kim Grant was able to do something brilliant one minute and then look like he'd never seen a football in his life the next. I remember Chris Wilder being less than brilliant for us Paul Bacon,Danny Warden also spring to mind as being crap
[cite]Posted By: kinveachyaddick[/cite]Amman was better than Peterson is my opinion.
Trust me, it was a very close run thing in the Amman vs Peterson stakes - who's the biggest flapper of them all? Pattercake would definitely make my subs bench!
I haven't noticed Tom Hovi mentioned yet. He was a Norweigan left back that played on loan for us in about '94. I think we let in 9 goals during his two appearances (throwing a 3-1 lead away at home to Derby to lose 4-3, and a 5-1 stuffing up at Bolton).
Small, slow, weak, turned slower than an oil tanker. He had absolutely nothing going for him, and was soon sent packing.
not a million miles away from mine either... thought we'd hit the jackpot when we nabbed him, far fetched i know but was the "alan simonsen" of this modern era, i.e. MASSIVE reputation (alright not European POTY but still - closest we've got since barring big Jorge Costa), performer on the international stage, touch of class... wishy washy player in the English leagues who is saved by THAT goal from being possibly the biggest underachiever in our recent past
Yes, it pains me to put him in there but I still can't forgive him for his stunning lack of impact in three years at the club apart from that moment and a couple (literally) of others. I had dreams of Dennis skinning full-backs week in and out and although he did get past his full-back on many occasions his final ball was almost always woeful apart from at Watford last year when he crossed for Sharon to score.
Been watching the boys since 86 - don't think you can much past these lads in my opinion, although these things are purely subjective
In have tried to leave the 'one hit disasters' out as much as possible, and the likes of Lisbie and Grant who at least did their best over a sustained period.
Salmon - Totally charmless, and seemed to think he was better than us
El Khalej - Calamatous and cost us badly in that seasons run in C Tiler - Started badly, got better briefly and ended up being worse than when he started K Scott - On loan briefly and made Tiler look like Franco Baresi D Traore - How this man won a CL medal is beyond me - absolutely clueless
R Milne - Incredibly played for Man Utd after us, have met him and he is a miserable f**cker with little humour D Campbell - Totally ineffective apart from the tap-in at WHL in 1987 P Bacon - Slow, ineffective and a waste of space for half a season D Rommedahl - Biggest let down in my twenty two years supporting the club
M McCammon - Once spent an entire 2nd half Vs Bolton either offside, or passing to others in offside positions A Dyer - Surely the slowest black man on the planet? Utterly woeful and to make things worse was bought from Palace
Subs:
S MacKenzie - in his first three months for us he was embrassing - looked like a fat spanish waiter (and played like one) JF Hasslebaink - May as well have got the $1Million wages we paid him and flushed it down the bog J Stuart - started well, then proceeded to give the ball away almost at will with every touch M Small - played a half at Millwall that was stunning in it's ineptitude - had actually been in the Eng squad the year before T Myhre - never understood how or why Deano was pushed out for this guy - very poor
[quote][cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]On his day, Petterson was a brilliant shot stopper - and with that crazy unpredictable keeper mentality.[/quote]
Always remember that virtually point blank save Petterson made against Palace (1996?) - it seemed like the first time we'd beaten them in ages. Think Petterson was player of the year that season as well (it was a mediocre season!). He was good on his day though, although his day wasn't very often! Ammann always seemed a bit out of his depth

Tom Hovi was comically awful - am amazed he appeared twice, always thought the Derby game the beginning and end of his Charlton career!
Great post Kenny, sums up most of my thougts perfectly. Wasn't it amazing that Salmon played so many games for the club (must have been 200 or so) and yet the fans never really took to him in the way they did to Johns and Bolder?
Great point about Alex Dyer, I saw him get outpaced by Alvin Martin at Upton Park in 1993 when that scouse twat was pushing 40!!!!
You are also spot on about Campbell, did he DO anything else for us?
Vaughn was a decent keeper, so what if he was a bit small. Deano was/is hardly an imposing presence in the physical stakes either.
Achampong was truly awful! Steve 'Pedro' McKenzie didn't look much like a footballer, but wasn't awful. Popped up a with a few vital goals in 88/89. Darren Pitcher didn't do too much for me.

I agree. Already mentioned him earlier in my worst team.
We paid a lot of money, at any rate by our standards at the time, for him too.

How Curbishley allowed us to go into the run-in with him in goal in 98-99 is beyond me...

Would be in everyone's if it wasn't for that last minute winner at Sainsbury's 04
For that reason... he can never ever ever make it in there, no matter how much of a big girl he was! (nor Kim Grant!)
Yes, but he remains the biggest disappointment in my lifetime as a Charlton supporter.

Although people knocked Pringle for his two 2 yard misses, i recall iwelumo having more than 2 last season, so he is a close runner up!
