I gave him a clap but do wonder, looking at the slimline version we saw today, as a so called professional footballer he was allowed to be such a fat blob with us.

I'm not sure whether I'm questioning him or the Charlton regime at the time.

I always had the same issue with Elliot. How can a professional athlete under constant monitoring be allowed to gain excess weight .

  • One of my recent favourites, gutted when he left. Wanted him to sign for us before he went to Spurs.

Wiki says Halford's loan with us was part of the deal that took him to the mackems, forgot Reidy going was that bad!

Clapped him today, cannot remember clapping any of our players.
  • He didn't ask to leave us. Pardew sold him so he could buy Andy Gray, rather than Sylvan Ebanks-Blake who was available at the same price.

Really ? Jeez! Andy Gray was just a shocking waste of money.
  • Do you remember his debut for us? Came on 2nd half in a shirt 3 sizes too small and was simply awful. Kept falling over a had the funniest air-shot I have ever seen.
  • Class player, class bloke too.

How Trappatoni can leave him out of such a shit Irish team is beyond me.
  • Wasnt st the game but good to hear he was clapped off. Did Reid clap the CAFC sides of the ground when he was subbed?

    Yes.
  • Great to hear Guinness. Like that a lot. Well done all involved, including Reid.
  • Think he was only player to turn up when Luke young tried to organise a team bonding event when we were in the mire.

That just about sums up the Dowie-Pardew era.
  • Without wanting to start another thread how this man is not plying he's trade in the premiership is beyond me.

The shot with the outside of the boot that dipped just over the bar was sublime and technically one of the most difficult.

How Fulham, west Ham, Newcastle all cant find a place for a footballer like that i'll never know I suppose you have to be a top athlete these days before you can be a footballer
  • he was superb last night, finds himself space so easily and makes the game look very easy.

would love to have him back playing for us
  • He must have dropped 2 stone since he was with us

    Superb last night
  • Love the guy to bits. Still a class above everyone else last night with the goal, the shot CAFCBourne mentions and still running and looking for the ball at the end. Our decline accelerated rapidly when he left...would love him back, as would Hardys in Greenwich no doubt.

And, now that Trap has gone, he's been recalled to the Ireland squad. Great player.
  • His passing last night was superb and he was a joy to watch.
  • serious man love for Reid
  • what sort of reception did we give him last night?
  • He reminds me of a cat playing with a mouse.
    Class act.

  • Last season I was in awe as usual but last night, with love undiminished, I thought the occasion and importance of the game meant it was better to take the piss out of every bad pass and shot. I even threw in a few mentions of pies and was sure it put the ex-chubster pieaholic off of his game slightly

We coped with him better than last season.
  • yeah I think you got to him to be fair
  • He's the class that we are missing, head and shoulders above everyone else, If he was still playing for us last night, we would have won easily.
  • Only got one foot, but that one foot has more skill and magic than most Champ footballers entire bodies. Fantastic player, one of the best in terms of talent I've seen in Charlton colours - though I am younger than many on here...
  • what sort of reception did we give him last night?

He deservedly got a very good one

  • One of the best players in the Championship. Their only threat but often had me worried. Also great delivery from dead balls (and I don't mean the goal!)
  • quality player-clap

Undoubtedly a class act, but not all his passing was superb last night and second- half he faded.

I thought Stephens had the better game.

Based on how he's played against us in the last couple of seasons I think he's the best player in the Championship that I've personally seen since we've been back at this level.
  • best footballer in the championship and third best player on display last night behind stephens and cousins
