One man's meat is another man's poison people. Are we or are we not all Charlton on here? Please remember that opinions are like arseholes - we all have one!
I was going to ask what a jam sponge was but didn't want to be laughed at cos I didn't know some new, cool Sarf London terminology. Glad it's just not us dopey northern monkies!
Looking at the Videos (the atmosphere looked decent) the only thing they could get nicked for is impersonating Palace fans cos our lot did exactly what the Palace fans did at the Valley once they scored earlier on in the season Personally I think its good as long as the flare and smoke bomb holders hold on to it and don't lob em When Palace did it there were plenty of Charlton fans slagging it off on here, it was geeky , fake ultras , rubbish etc but when we do it its the nuts I like it whoever does it (as long as there's no risk to anyone and I'm not fully aware if there is if they keep hold of em, if that's possible) and its good for our support to have a bit of a personality for once/twice
At the end of the day Flares are illegal, so the Police will step up body and bag searches to remove them, and charge the clubs for the privilege. And bar anyone from entering if they're caught.
What a short memory a lot of the posters on here have.
What our more boisterous fans were doing on Saturday was exactly what a lot of us were doing in the late 60's and 70's. I can remember going to Palace in the mid 70' when Charlton fans put in a few shop windows by Norwood Junction. OK in them days we didn't have the flares (apart from our trousers) but we were just as boisterous as the current youngsters if not worse.
ME14...Cannabis is illegal, but you can drink alcohol before the game. Blinding atmosphere, tribal, passionate...just loved the flares. If this kind of behaviour continues I'm going to go to more away matches and give it large with the other thugs.
All the more reason to rid scum like you from our away support.
I'm 66, arthritic, have one lung and walk with a stick...now where's those flares?

Have to agree not football related but my dad bangs on about herberts hanging around his flats etc and then tells me stories of what he got upto as a Teddy Boy, these kids today are nothing compared to them
The only problem I have with the flares/smokebombs is that is just reeks of everything we took the piss out of Palace for. I do suspect that some saw it happen at the game in September and thought it was cool so just copied it.
All support bases seem to be trying so many European traditions at the moment in this country, I don't really understand how or why it's come about all of a sudden.
Other than that, I'm not really bothered. Just wish we could do something that was a bit more unique to us rather than sing the White Stripes song which every club has also adopted in the past six months!
I know that a lot of teams have copied us (or other lower league clubs) in recent weeks, including chelsea, so it is becoming widespread, which has probably made authorities take note, if it had stayed lower league they probably wouldnt have got tough on it so quick!

They haven't copied "us". Loads of clubs are doing it.
Apparently locals are helping handing in footage of vandalism and a lot of arrests in next few days! As if the locals were outside video n photographing the said events? Thought they were so scared hiding behind their settees!
Everyone was thoroughly searched on their way into the ground. The only way forward now is to strip search every fan as they may have been smuggled "internally"
Set them off on sight if they are seen.
The flares I don't mind actually they do add atmosphere I feel. As long as they aren't lobbed etc.
Basically when it comes to vandalism etc you almost have to imagine you are in your own stadium. Everything in front of you will be paid for by the club if you smash it. But smashing stuff is "atmosphere" so I suppose it's a price worth paying for some.
Does anyone know if we can see the bill the clubs pay for our misdemeanours?

Lots were looking out of their windows and wouldn't be surprised if they were videoing and photographing their property seeing as it has happened before. And good luck to them.
If people are identified and arrested for vandalism then they only have themselves to blames.

Yes, because we were the first team in world football to light flares at a football match

TEN football fans were arrested after trouble broke out during and after Crystal Palace’s game against Charlton on Saturday.
Crystal Palace beat Charlton 2-1 on Saturday at Selhurst Park in a hotly contested south London derby.
Extra police officers were drafted in for the game, some coming from neighbouring boroughs.
During the game, several rows of seats and the toilets in the away end were damaged. Flares were also lit in the away section.
After the match, away fans were held in Park Road by a police cordon while Palace fans made their way home.
About 3,000 Charlton supporters were escorted down Sangley Road towards Norwood Junction.
A minority of troublemakers smashed cars and damaged residents’ property as they made their way home.
Police are investigating the damage that was caused and are urging residents with any information to call 101.

Loved the flare and the smoke bomb, well played to those who brought them in. That first half was one of the most enjoyable first halfs of supporting Charlton I can remember. Crowd were excellent and so were the players.
Yeah well done. Thankfully it didn't set fire to some kids clothing or give a fan third degree burns . Not that that matters , because Fiiiish had fun...
How dare I enjoy something you don't, how dare I.
More chance of a bovril going flying when we score and burning a kid, so get rid of all hot drinks aswell! Lock up all PG tips drinkers.
Last time I checked my Bovril wasn't alight and at 50c .
Are you a wind up merchant ? You have the right to disagree, not sure of the need to start name calling or dismissing other peoples opinions. Chillax amigo.
