I personally don't care how many adverts there are. What I do care about is that advert (I don't know what for) that burns our badge. There was a huge outcry when those jokers burnt a scarf on you tube yet we show the badge burning on our big screen every game. I find it highly offensive and am surprised the club allow it.
I go to a football ground to watch football, not to be 'entertained' by adverts for things I don't want and don't need. I object to any imposition or obtrusive entity that detracts from the enjoyment of watching the game. The screen at The Valley doesn't overly bother me, as I can't see what it displays.
I assume you mean worth the costs involved to the owner? I can't see that this is any less effective than shirt sponsorship and is likely to be more effective than stationary boards around the pitch.
Yep, again, sorry for not making myself clear, I meant is it worth paying to put an advert onto the screen.
I'd suggest it's something that the new Marketing Director needs to look at. Didn't realise that Colchester did it, but know the lad at Derby where everything (corners, throws, ballboys etc) is sponsored. A very American concept, but one that does bring in a decent sum & all goes to off-setting costs. As Airman stated elsewhere today, it's unlikely that a club can break even in this League...we should be pleased with any advertising/sponsorship that goes towards offsetting some of the costs.

I can't help put think this is one area where most American sports with their time-countdowns are better than what we have.
