  • scabby that's wrong I'm afraid. He needs some quality to work with that's all. If we can get four in through the door in January you will see a big difference.

He was encouraged to bring in some quality loan players though - and we ended up with Fuller, Hulse & Frimpong. None of these have exactly proved up to the job.

Don't know about you, but I was there today and Hulse and Fuller were not the reasons we lost. Stephens , on the other hand, a player CP would have sold for the money on offer from Villa...
  • How someone viewed 2million as not value for money for Dale Stephens is bonkers

Think scabby is wrong but please let's not let this thread just degenerate into telling him he's a twat, troll or WUM. Tell him why he's wrong.

I think Scabby is wrong, but you can't disputse SCP has brought in some real dross in the way of loans. Ultimately the manager has to bear the responsibility for team and tactical failings.

Seabourne was all there was after unfortunate injury to Evina.

Frimpong is obviously a quality player but isn't fit or interested.

Hulse has been decent and the majority are happy with him.

It isn't obvious to me that Frimgpong is a quality player.

    Happy with Hulse

Frimpong should get fit and interested

Should have done better than Seabourne

Love that. As if there's an abundance of champ quality left backs queing to play at the valley for a month.
  • Surprised you're on here scabby? Usually over at ITTV aren't you

Can't understand the constant tinkering with the team but he is young, inexperienced and a Charlton legend. No way you could sack him now. He also got us promoted with record points last season. He will come good again.

  • I thought I'd take a little break from CL before the game as it was getting a bit mental on here. Obviously I can see the error of my ways now - I should have stayed away for longer
  • I wouldn't mind Poyet!!
  • Now is not the time to get rid of Chris Powell. We played poorly in the first half and deserved to be 2-0 down, but Powell made a couple of changes and we improved in the second half.We need some new signings in the transfer window and we need to get behind the team. They seem to be scared to express themselves at the Valley.
  • Apart from getting rid of SCP being a disaster. Can anyone give me one good reason why Gus Poyet would leave Brighton for Charlton.

You must be a mind reader, Prague !

Frimpong doesn't look like a SCP loanee to me......could someone else have had a hand in bringing him to The Valley ?

Eh? So that's where you have been then? Look it's just my opinion, I didn't think he was the right man when he was appointed but thankfully he proved me wrong, but the championship I feel is a level to far for him. I take the point about players he has to work with because I believe players like Kermogant, Stephens and Jackson etc are just not good enough for the championship. Time will tell and if I'm wrong resurrect this thread and then call me a twat!

  • O and apologies for having a view.

Apology necessary but not accepted. You're an idiot and you know sod all about football. Please don't post on here again.

Can we have the banner back please?
  • His past as a Charlton legend will mean SFA with the board. He doesn't seem to have real imagination and just keeps changing the team every week trying to get it right. There doesn't ever appear to be a game plan, and the use of subs has been appalling.
I also don't think Hulse and Fuller cannot play up front together. Saturday against Derby is a big game and we must win otherwise its a relegation fight.
Don't slag people posting who say the football has been shit, IT HAS BEEN SHIT.

We are not slagging people who say that. That is not under discussion in this thread. And if you want to talk about a lack of game plan, I suggest you start with the summer game plan, or lack of it.

What a great reason to change clubs then! I can see it now "so Gus why did you join Charlton?" "well its because i live in Chelsfield" FFS!
  • Getting rid of Powell is nonsense.

We go on an unbeaten run to get us to a safe place in the league then come back to Earth with a bang and people want the manager out? We aren't in League 1, we are in the Championship, anyone can beat anyone. Today was poor but getting rid of Powell because of it is lunacy.
  • What an idiotic idea.
  • MIA you may and you have done, good for you!

PA you've nailed it son, our chickens are coming home to roost methinks in terms of lack of summer signings, question is it was what it was, will things improve in January re signings, and will Koc come good?
  • Don't panic.

Alright the football isn't great and we definitely need to strengthen in the transfer window, but calling for CP's head really makes you look like a right drama queen. Get a grip.

I'm sorry mate but your view is stupid. We are newly promoted. You have suggested that the likes of Kermogant, Stephens and Jackson aren't championship quality. Don't necessarily disagree with that - but the point is there is nothing Powell can do about that! He has not been given any money and not therefore had any opportunity to change the squad. He has done as well as could reasonably be expected with loan emergency signings like Hulse and Seabourne which he's been forced into. We have a decent team spirit and that is largely down to him. He was the manager of the year in league one last season and will clearly go on to be a very decent manager.

We were 7 (?) games unbeaten until a week ago. With the squad we have, we are going to lose some games. Just get behind the bloke and the players.
