sorry, I keep forgetting..........forwards aren't always in the team to score goals , even though their position means they are nearer the oppostion goal than anyone else in the team

Exactly correct.
problem is we seem to fill our team with players whose job it is is not to score................
I think what Golf addick was getting at was more towards the standard of loan striker we have got here. Regardless of who signs who, Millwall - a nothing club have had a few decent loan signings keogh,(initially i believe) , Wood,Kane, Townsend.. and we have Hulse... in that respect you have to ask why aren't we looking for a more high-profile striker.

Not sure that you can say Wood, Kane and Townsend are high profile strikers, they've gone on loan and done well. If we had signed Harry Kane at the start of last season, most wouldnt have known who he is and would of asked for a higher profile signing.
I would say Hulse is more high profile than the likes of Kane and Wood plus we have Frimpong on loan who is more high profile than all of Millwalls loan signings

Over simplifying a more complex game. Whenever a bloke at the pub gives this arguement about just about any target man I switch off and just assume they're a knucklehead or don't know anything about football. So, I can't say I agree with your statement.
unlike Golfie I have been impressed with Hulse. He's an intelligent player and holds the ball up well, has a decent enough strike rate and has come in as a loanee and performed. At the moment he looks a better option than Yann and with Fuller constantly injured we need him. I hope he stays permanently as we need a squad with options.
Spot on imo.
Hulse has done a decent job at this level for years - Yann is still unproven at this level
we haven't got that player(striker) yet on our books that you think will score in almost any game a la Charlie Austin , Glenn Murray etc at this level , and get us out of trouble & get a point or is the difference between a point and 3 points.
Maybe our strikers aren't benefiting from the same service as those two - certainly Murray who must think he's in dreamland with Bolassie and Zaha. Also, when fit, we have Fuller who can sometimes make something out of nothing

14 different players have scored League goals for Charlton so far this season.
