Would like to keep Hulse, at least until the end of the season. He is a very useful player, much better than some QPR fan mates of mine led me to believe. If him, Kermorgant and Fuller could set-up some key partnerships and with Haynes' pace as well we have some good strikers on our books. Get a solid midfield and we could be a real threat in this league.
The only stumbling block I can see is Hulse's wages as I bet hes on a decent wedge at QPR. However he must be aware that if he wants first team football then hes gonna have to drop his wage demands.
Its a shame hes at the end of his career, I think give him a contract to the end of the season and go from there.
I expect someone to reply back to my post with " typical Golfie post - negative" or "thought he's done well, why knock him...." I'll give you this........ he has only scored 3 goals in 9 games, whereas Chris Wood over at Milwall is almost into double figures.
so, until we get a player who after a loan spell can we say "blimey, he was good" and made a noticeable difference to our team, then I will remain unimpressed.

Your missing the point, we have an opportunity to sign a player for peanuts who has done a decent job for us. Comparing him to Wood is ridiculous as Wood would cost 1 million +.

How many chances does the Millwall midfield create for Wood compared to ours for Hulse?
West Brom are rumoured to be looking for closer to £2m now too, seen as half the Championship is supposedly interested in him. Don't be surprised if he ends up at Leicester or somewhere similar, who have the cash to splash.
Hulse is not needed at QPR, they'll be happy to get him off their books and therefore would cost a couple of hundred thousand maximum. Also, having been a (decent) Championship target man for the majority of his career, he won't need the heady wages I think you might expect. Would be great value on an 18 month contract IMO.
The point is Woods is a goal scorer, although for some it is a difficult concept to get there head round Hulse is a forward but not a goal scorer, he has a different role than Woods, in the same way Leaburn was never a goal scorer but the forward that a goal scorer preferred to play with - Mendonca. Hulse is the first line of defence and a support striker, if we are looking ofr a goal scorer then we need to look elsewhere.

Think you'll find that Bright and Jones and later Hunt were the most successful partners with Mendonca. Oh for a Mendonca to play alongside Hulse, Kermorgant or Fuller.
Hard Working and very experianced at this level, exactly the sort of player you want if your aiming to get in the top 6 this season or next, play him with a proven goalscorer at this level and you have the dream partnership.
Most of the championship will want chris wood. If we can get Hulse for peanuts he will be a good signing. Brings lots to the team and will get a share of the goals

Think he's a better option than yann. We play so much better with him on the pitch
Sadly true, we do get a bit dimensional when Yann is up front.
Hulse is another Andy Gray type striker, will do a job for the team, and worth buying if the price and wages are right (which at £1.5m wasn't the case for Gray)
unlike Golfie I have been impressed with Hulse. He's an intelligent player and holds the ball up well, has a decent enough strike rate and has come in as a loanee and performed. At the moment he looks a better option than Yann and with Fuller constantly injured we need him. I hope he stays permanently as we need a squad with options.
Hulse has been ok , scored a few , missed a few easy sitters , led the line well at times , its all about our budget and how much is available , & if there's a bigger budget can we do better , also think our midfield is not that strong at the moment & needs stepping up a gear as well as our attack being more clinical with their finishing , we haven't got that player(striker) yet on our books that you think will score in almost any game a la Charlie Austin , Glenn Murray etc at this level , and get us out of trouble & get a point or is the difference between a point and 3 points.
I like Hulse. Holds the ball up well and has scored a few goals too. If he was a better finisher he would be a fabulous player. He's already missed 4 or 5 really decent chances which, if he'd taken them, would have boosted us even further up the table.
Of course, if he was a better finisher he probably wouldn't be here at all!
sorry, I keep forgetting..........forwards aren't always in the team to score goals , even though their position means they are nearer the oppostion goal than anyone else in the team !!
Perhaps thats why my local sunday side kept losing - the goalkeeper was brilliant at passing the ball out to his defenders but at 4ft 11 and with no arms he was a bit limited stopping shots and crossses !!!!!!!!

Hope Kermo steps up when fit whatever happens with Hulse.

Just asking.

Chris Powell wouldn't, you know.
