This aimed at me saying I'm over the age of 12, so wouldn't wear a replica shirt?
Original point stands, think any adult in a replica shirt who isn't playing football looks a right weirdo. Thats just my opinion though, wear what you like!
I only ever bought one replica shirt - I did use to wear it to games and I may do again. I used to think it was ridiculous for people over a certain age to wear them, but I've mellowed and these days I think that seeing a sea of red adds to the atmosphere.
And ladies in replica kits can look very sexy (imho), whatever their age.
Shirts no problem but the ones wearing the shorts need to have a long hard think and the ones also wearing the socks must be virgins. Wasn't there a thread a while ago linking to a blog with pictures of Liverpool fans in the full kit. One bloke topped the look off with a pair of brown brogues. Nice.
More to the point, anyone buy their significant other a full Charlton kit to wear in bed?
Fucking mad this thread. Football supporters over 35; 40; 50 (pick age of your choice) not supposed to buy replica shirts and if they do they look like weirdos, paedos, are a bit sad (pick insult of your choice). Actually what the fuck is anyone over 35 doing supporting a football team, chanting, singing, celebrating a goal - should be at home doing the gardening and acting like an "adult".
There's some geezer out here, about mid 50's, who claims to be Chelsea and wears something "Chelsea" every day. See him at the Christmas Fair on Tuesday night in training top and woolie hat. Looked like a right cock. If he tells me Charlton are in a Mickey Mouse league again, he's gonna need to stick his Chelsea toothbrush up his arse to clean his railings! Ffs
My wife says i'm too old (42 but look a lot younger!) for white trainers , so you may have a point personally i think you're both wrong
I'm nearly 60 and have always worn white reebok trainers (except at work etc). Of all my bad taste in clothes never even considered that one. My kids laugh but more because i've been buying the same type for 25 years not because they are white trainers ( I think)
maybe it's me age but I don't understand all this I thought the reason for a replica shirt was to wear it at a match, I wear my centenary shirt at most games, but tomorrow it will be under a warm coat.
Not for me but couldn't careless what others wear, unless it's a mate with me when we are going on a pub crawl after a game, as there is always some prat (usually pissed but not always) who will want to give them some stick to try to provoke a reaction.
In a land where fat birds wear leggings, no underwear and Ugg boots as the height of fashion how can anyone be critical of a man wearing a football shirt.

Good point! I wear a shirt show and then, nothing wrong with it imo.

This thread probably exemplifies the lack of anything from the east and west stands
I have always been of the belief that supporters should be wearing the club colours on a matchday, whether the replica shirt or not. It actually looks intimidating to opposition and also provides a better atmosphere in general.

Got any pictures?
Thankfully no, but it's popular in New York- Paris- Woolwich.
I own every released replica shirt, all the Toffs versions, training shirts, track suits and much more. I wear them at matches and as leisurewear throught the seasons. Proud of my club and always happy to publicise us when I can.
I'd love to know how wearing a replica shirt instead of a normal shirt creates a better atmosphere??
It makes everybody feel more in unison. If you saw a sea of red shirts all chanting away/supporting the team, then you'd be more inclined to join in and take part. You're all visibly fighting for the same cause.
Since when has an adult wearing a replica shirt emblazoned with 'Andrews Air Condition' looked intimidating? Worrying or laughable but INTIMIDATING??

WUM....always found those NOT wearing any colours more intimidating.
I think that was SE10's point.
If people want to wear them let them but doing so (or not) doesn't make you a better or more proud/loyal/committed fan. No one wore them pre-1980s and there were still loyal, noisy, passionate fans then.
A discret enamel badge is all that is needed IMHO but each to their own.
Just strange that other than football kit who wears nylon clothes these days?

You would say that though, wouldn't you... :-)
I think it does make you less passionate and loyal.;-)

I for one can't wait to run up and down the touchline tomorrow at Bolton in my mankini , it feels so liberating.

It's almost like wearing a uniform, for example like with army colours. Here's a random article supporting the idea: scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=emotions-in-lockstep
