You shouldn't be wearing a replica shirt to football if you are an adult

I'll wear shirts on a non match-day (I'm 25), don't really see the big deal. If I'm going down the shops or to the gym, I'm not really bothered what people think of what I'm wearing. I'm hardly going to go out dressed as if I'm about to meet the Queen or take some treacle out on a date am I.

Dont think replica shirt wearers take treacles on dates really do they tom.

Should have seen her face when I took her trainspotting at Watford Junction.
  • I have bought all the home shirts (bar one) since 1986, I've also bought a few (well most, actually) of the away shirts since the same period. I wear mine to games, and I wear them, often - not always, when I'm at home and we are playing. I also take them on holiday and wear them in the garden when it is hot (not much wear this summer). I've also been known to wear them during the summer with shorts (not Charlton shorts - I don't wear the whole kit) when it is hot and I'm at my desk working (again, not much in 2012).

I don't see any problem with wearing them to games, I also don't see any problems with people that go to games and don't wear team shirts. I don't have a name and/or number on them, but again don't see a problem with those that do. I have the League One Champions badges on them this season though.

So much aggression here, someone makes a comment and then the vitriol begins.

Sorry mate, that was not a comment it was some pratt telling other people what not to wear, about which he (or she) should mind their own business. If you think that what I reponded with was vitriol, all I can say is don't ever really upset me.

  • I'd be inclined to agree personally, I'd be v embarrassed if my old man wore one! Not that he ever would.
  • Wear what you want but replica shirts arent a bit of me. Puts money into the club though so carry on.

    Are you Bruce Banner?
  • I always wear a replica shirt normally over a hoodie, due to the fact i used to attend mostly freezing cold northern away matches plus since im normally one of the first fans there due to my worry about being late, it generally leads to a good few conversations with the locals.

To be honest anybody who is to concernered with what anybody else wears in life is a sad person who needs to have a look at themselves IMO.
  • i think its embarassing if you are over the age of 50....

David 'Hideous Ugly Fucker' Mellor's 'lickle tweakle' loved the replica kits so much she used to wear a Chelsea one while he diddled her ... allegedly .. no it WAS in the SUN, it must be twue
  • Shirts no problem but the ones wearing the shorts need to have a long hard think and the ones also wearing the socks must be virgins. Wasn't there a thread a while ago linking to a blog with pictures of Liverpool fans in the full kit. One bloke topped the look off with a pair of brown brogues. Nice.

More to the point, anyone buy their significant other a full Charlton kit to wear in bed?
  • No man over 35 should wear trainers unless engaged in a sporting activity. Football shirt ok at the game, outside of that , it's a no ! Also a no is jogging bottoms. The worst is trainers, jogging bottoms, big gut and footie shirt outside primark, smoking roll up waiting for the wife. Head Of CL fashion police has spoken. I am available as a personal shopper.
  • You can wear what you want
You can wear what you want
    Apart from Ugg boots
You can wear what you want
  • No man over 35 should wear trainers .

My wife says i'm too old (42 but look a lot younger!) for white trainers , so you may have a point
personally i think you're both wrong

as for the shirt each to their own , i'll wear one in the garden when playing footy with the kids

  • Ill be wearing a millwall shirt in march for safety and putting pebbles in my shoe so I can affect a passable bowl down Floyd Road

No, but I bought her a nice pair of brown brogues .. nothing strange about me !!
  • i dont c anything wrong with an adult wearing their teams kit to matchday......

however, there is a trend out there called #fullkitwanker if anybody wants to have a laugh....

I agree. Just like no-one under 35 should wear a hat or a suit.
  • Wear what you want , but be assured it doesn't look good on anyone over 16

  • I like to buy a top to wear around the house/go for a jog in/lounge about in on holiday but haven't worn one to a game (England away games aside as the Umbro polos are very minimalist and smart) since I was about 16. Each to their own I think.
  • I think the point on the other thread was about having name and numbers on the shirt. Personally I do find the fact the 45 yr old blokes have a 19 year old kids name on there back a bit strange, but to each his own.

I was a full kit w*anker on my hen night. Boots, socks and everything. Thanks to Suzi.

  • I somewhat agree that putting your name on your shirt is a bit strange,

I see no problem with people putting on a charlton shirt to watch Charlton. Builds up a bit of atmosphere and is something people do because supporting Charlton is a society in itself!

    I do it!

You like the look of a kit on under 16s though?
  • Bludy hell. Really? It's a football match, we're supporters.. it's traditional! I am 24, however I will continue to wear Charlton colours to games when if I reach 124!
  • Well of course morts ...
  • I was well into my thirties by the time replica kits became popular for adults so never got into the habit though I remember wearing one on holiday in the Algarve and it was a dead giveaway to those bloody timeshare crooks that I was an Englishman abroad.
  • I've never felt the need to wear a club shirt (not since I got a plain red shirt with a white collar when I was about 8), but if anyone wants to wear one that's fine by me.

Mind you, I am fanatical about not wearing anything with red and blue together.
  • People should be able to wear what they want to a football match or any other place for that matter.

I would never wear a replica shirt to a match though. In fact I think anyone over the age of 18 wearing one looks like a raging peodophile.

Obviously that's a joke, but I do find it a bit odd adults wearing one. I have no problem with it or them though. Each to their own.
