  • "Glad Powell and the board are taking this stance. It's better than having another Parker"

Am I being really thick? I swear we got 10 mill for Scotty?
  • Yeah i thought we did ok for Parker, my gripe was him being so eager to screw us and the fact they clearly only bought him to end our season, not to help there's.
  • Done two pints and a packet of twiglets

I hope i lose and boyd wears red again

This. Classic Russian business style. But they genuinely, none of them wanted to sell, RM told me, and a whole load of others on many occasions. Parker's behavior, and some dirty play in the press, notably by the Sun, did for us.

I don't think there will be anything like the drama over Stephens, and I wonder if Villa still want him

  • What was the Sun's part in Parker's move?
  • Es gotta take into consideration that Pritchard maybe off to the African cup of nations soon.

    Zimbabwe didn't qualify.
  • Still offering my services to drive Dale up to Villa Park anytime next month.

Nice one pal. That will leave us with loads of natural passers and mobile players in the middle of the pitch. Jackson and Pritchard as CMs for the whole remainder of the season after Frimpong's loan ends...

Can understand why people sometimes get frustrated with Stephens' consistency, but this kind of remark suggests you wouldn't know a decent footballer if he smacked you in the face.
  • I agree that Stephens is a good player and has skills that we are short of but the money reportedly being offered can, I believe, make the squad stronger without him.

But we would only let him leave if we can find a replacement. Last time would have been Quinn and Hammond. Would take that all day. Powell has replacements lined up and will have seen Stephens is not consistent enough or creative enough for this division, despite the apologists on here.

They ran several articles saying he was leaving, while the Charlton board were still resisting 100%. It was clearly being run to a Chelsea agenda. I'd not go so far as to say it was paid for, although out here in CZ, that would be the conclusion people would make as similar things happen here regularly. The culmination was an article on their web page saying he had actually signed, a full week before it happened. it never made it to the print edition, but I captured it and rang the PCC to ask if this was worth complaining about. the young guy who answered thought it was very interesting and told me to do so. But after several weeks they replied that I could not complain because I was a third party, and not " directly affected" . Subsequently I got a letter from the Suns own ombudsman, some Lord, who attached the print edition, which of course didn't include the article I complained about, sneeringly rejecting my complaint, on the basis that it all turned out to be correct. C***s, the lot of em

I agree the board didn't want to sell Parker in January and did everything to prevent it happening. What's less discussed, however, is that they were ready to sell him to Chelsea the previous summer - the Abramovich takeover caused the deal to be aborted.
  • I would Sell stephens then buy gleeson from mk dons, probably wouldn't cost much more than 400k which is a bargain considering his miles better than stephens in my opinion. Let's hope scp is reading this!

i remember this was either before or during the entire "tapping up" players started hitting the press. If you don't think Parker was tapped up a lot then you're blind and stupid. The entire thing stunk.
