Lost count of the amount of times I have left the ground, home or away this season and found myself saying. "Hamer caught every single cross" it takes so much pressure off the defence Think he is quality and will be a prem keeper in the future
I don't agree with the cant catch line. His catching and punching is greatly improved this season, yesterday was pretty much the first flap I can remember this season.
He even put in quite a few good catches from crosses/corners yesterday.
first of many well see, just voicing my opinion
First of many? Rather than 'first time he's done it'? Doesn't happen a lot, good keeper.
Big Peter was on MOTD2 last night and he was talking about Krul yesterday for Newcastle. He made two mistakes that lead to 2 goals, but without his saves it could have been 6-0.
Goalkeepers, altho complete lunatics, have a very difficult job. If they make one mistake and its punished then the rest of their performance is forgotten, whereas a forward might miss 5 chances, score the winner and he's a ledge.
The main thing with Hamer, is that he's improving, and you wont find many better at this level.
I questioned Hamer last season as I felt he made way too many mistakes, however this season I think he has been class. Not sure if its to do with the laser eye op he had but I feel alot more confident with him in the net this season. Yesterday was one mistake in how many games? All players make the odd mistake.

Haven't got too much of a problem with Hamer ,but I would also like to see what Button is like at some stage this season.Like all Goalies Hamer's gaffs get remembered although I feel he can be inconsistent.
If we go back 30 years I remember Nicky Johns sometimes having crises of confidence during a season and dropping everything that was crossed during these periods and his successor Bob Bolder sometimes made some absolute howlers, yet the passage of time means we now look back at both of them with great affection.More recently Rob Elliot also divided opinion amongst fans in the same way .I suspect Hamer will have a similar reputation when we look back in years to come.
In terms of Button although he only played 12 minutes for Spurs in the League Cup at Doncaster he has played over 100 games in the Football League and was signed to challenge and not just cover Hamer.
He looked very impressive when we played Plymouth two years ago in SCP's first game and given that Tottenham have four international class Goalies he needed to move on and it was no disgrace that he didn't break through.
Hamer has improved a lot this season and is still young, with his peak years ahead of him. Good quality Championship keeper, will become very good and could make it in the Prem if he continues to develop and improve.
BRILLIANT! One mistake in how many games? 2 straight clean sheets, then he flapped at a cross? Not the worst thing. Did you see Tim Krul last night? Made 2 howlers.... is he now crap? NO! Hamer can catch, and has made some brilliant claims when it's mattered most.
Some comedy goalkeeping on MOTD on Saturday night - Al Haabsi and Mignolet the worst offenders - could it just possibly be down to difficult conditions?
Not the finished article yet but he's still Championship quality. Has the capability to get better with experience so I am happy with BH. Only proviso from me is if by some chance we were to get promoted this season. Would he be ready as first choice in the prem now ?
Deffo good enough, he is a decent keeper and i hope ours for a long time to come, any mistake by the keeper is always highlighted but he doesnt make many, in my opinion he is the best keeper we have had since Deano. His distribution is good always looking to turn defence into attack, if there is no on up field he holds onto it, i'd say thats good goalkeeping
Don't have any problem with Ben Hamer apart from one thing. He seems to be far out of his area some of the time when the game 'appears' to be up the other end - I fear an opportunist lob, a la early Beckham.

If Hamer gets lobbed from the halfway line this season, ill personally strip naked, run up to the directors box, stick my knob on the table and shout 'this is the only koc thats taking over'

Agree with this. The missed catch for the penalty on Saturday was the fist time in ages I can remember him making a mistake. The wind/rain was probably the cause.
I keep forgetting how young he is. He'll only improve.

The benefits of him doing this (sweeping up, keeping pressure on the other team by being able to distribute back in before they set themselves) far outweigh the chances of him being lobbed from the halfway line.

I like Hamer. Young for a keeper with lots of potential. His catching has improved vastly and his distribution is great. One error doesn't mean he's bad.
If I was really picky, I would argue he never gives me the impression he might save a penalty. Goes the wrong way most of the time. There are some keepers you fancy to save one but he isn't one of them.
His catching has improved greatly this season. Think he could be an excellent keeper and is a good one now. I think Joe Hart makes more mistakes than Hamer- everybody tells me what a great keeper he is but I think it is emporer's new clothes syndrome to an extent.
Hamer has claimed most of the crosses this season, just because he dropped one doesn't mean he's not good enough. He's constantly improving particularly with catching his crosses rather than flapping and his distribution is very good.

"his distribution is very frustrating"
Laughable.

Pay attention to what he says.
You know Powell will.
