  • Fuller should have scored when 4 on 2 .hulse should have buried the header at the end and they missed an open goal in the first 5 minutes.today was very much about missed chances and a re shuffled team with square pegs in round holes.not criticizing the players but kerkar at left back and Jackson left midfield did not work.i would criticize Powell today however for not introducing BWP against ten men especially with Haynes out already and the team crying out for pace .

It was difficult for Green when he came on in that match. He hardly touched the ball for 10 minutes but that was partly because pritch for all his qualities didnt look to pass it right whereas frim had been giving it out there all afternoon.
Suprised people criticise Stephens who i thought did pretty well today and as for those crtisising Jackson - just get real . He had a decent game today

Respectfully, Redman, it is all opinion. Supporters focus on and see different things. This maybe partly due to where you sit in the ground and what good / or bad bits of play you see at different points of the game.

My opinion, the team was very unbalanced (on the left side) and lacking in pace yesterday. I thought the team played poorly and lacked quality apart from Frimpong and occassional flashes from Solly and Fuller. Huddersfield had their first x3 choice strikers out. They looked a good team and if their main strikers had been on the pitch, we would have been in trouble.

I was very disappointed with Jackson. He is not a left winger / left midfield, he has no pace and when there is no pace along the centre or right midfield, Huddersfield were able to hold a high line and we had no ideas about how to break them down.

If you add into the fact that he did little to help Kerkar out, who is not a left back, I was very disappointed. Kerkar was out of position all afternoon, although he tried his best, it was a weakness in the team.

Kerkar is a much better at left midfield, and has the capacity to run at and go past an opposing player and put a dangerous cross in. It must be that Jackson hates playing in left back position, or struggles to get back to cover due to a lack of pace. Jackson sticks himself right up on the left wing and is too far forward to help out or allow an overlapping run. He is ineffective and not suited to that position.

Jackson only covered Kerkar on one or two occasions. If he is not prepared to cover or is too slow to get back, he should not be playing left midfield.

If a specialist left back is on the pitch and we have some pace in the centre or right wing, midfield, we may just get away with Jackson at left midfield but he is better when playing more centrally as his pace is less of an issue and his football skills can come through.

In the event that x3 left backs are injured then as the Captain, and someone who has played left back and knows the position and is a better left back then Kerkar, he should take up that covering role for the team - on the basis that Wiggins, Evina or Seabourne play at left back is fit.

I am not sure whether you can have Stephens and Jackson in the same midfield, as both lack pace and are better further forward in midfield. The midfield becomes too light weight and slow with them in it.

Stephens is definitely not a deep laying midfielder. He mostly played and looked sideways and backwards. When Frimpong went off, our midfield was over run and outfought (against 10 men). Admittedly, the lack of pace up / movement ahead of him, did not help. Frimpong made things happens and stood out in midfield.

It may have better to bring on Dervite after Frimpong went off yesterday. Hopefully Frimpong is playing on Tuesday, and if he lasts 60 to 70 minutes then Dervite should cover him.

With Wilson at right midfield, Haynes in the attack and , Frimpong in midfield, we should be midtable.

It is a tight division. WIth x2 to 3 quality additions (left midfield, centre midfield and covering quick striker), we would be challenging for a top 6 spot.

Roll on Peterbourough and Seabourne back to play left back. It would be good to see Haynes return.
  • Team now looking a much better prospect than they did at the start of the season. I know it ended up as a draw but in general we passed the ball better, kept more possession and just looked more confident.
Frimpong looks good and Fuller is quality - even though his pace is not exactly electric, he keeps he ball and then passes it.
All in all I came away quite happy

all I can say is that you must be easily pleased !!

i thought today was drab, dire & very unforgetable.

If it was very unforgettable, that is good isn't it?

  • we were poor.
no one watching the 2nd half would have known they had 10 men.
I thought we would play with a higher tempo.
    Frimpong was our best player
  • Wasn't till frimpong came off did u realize how effective he was !
Team and Powell still learning ,uve got to take ur changes as you may not get another in this league
  • Not sure how Football League Show can say the sending off was harsh because it was two footed, he has to go.

I think 1-1 was a fair result in fairness although disappointed to lose two points to a penalty, which was a penalty but i think their players head was low and it was a specatular jump considering Solly was supposed to have kicked him in the head. Even though the guys head was low it was a dangerous challenge from Solly. Hamer should have handled the initial cross better.

Over all it was not a pretty game. Why we were playing for time against 10 men with 20 minutes to go, especially in our own half i have no idea. But Huddersfield are a solid team and didn't look like they were down to 10 men so maybe Powell thought keeping ball was safer than going for a second.

Some bright sparks though. Frimpong looks good but short of match fitness, but thats why he is here. Pritchard did well as did Solly, Hulse and Stephens. If Fuller looked for a pass now and then rather trying to do it all himself i think we would be more dangerous. We know you can do it but it doesn't mean you have to do it all yourself all the time.

We need some luck with keeping Leftbacks fit though. Good to see Kermorgant back. Won every header he went for and looks like he'd never been away. I assume Haynes was injured to not even be on the bench.

Roll on Tuesday. Come on you Addicks.
  • Definitely two points dropped, we need a killer instinct in front of goal.

  • Disappointing way to gift an equalizer - need to close games out at home.
  • On reflection, a draw was a fair result. They had a couple of chances early doors which if they had scored would have changed the way we played. We were methodical in the build up play but lacked penetration which is largely how I would describe my love life.

  • We need to survive, we are doing this...move on.
  • The results except, for the very top clubs (e.g. Leicester) are all over the place. This is a unpredictable division, many teams on a par with each other
  • Sorry but green was a total waste of space, no bottle & did not look interested when he came on.

Ridiculous comment, played the ball of the match in setting up Hulse at the end.

  • What a pr*ck their no 5 was

    Brilliant!

Today was the day Stephens should have took the game by the scruff of the neck, he had lots of space in front of him playing against 10 men.

Completely agree. He's supposed to be the Premiership bound playmaker but he's not showing much of it at the moment!

  • Overall, a below par display and we did not deserve more than a draw. But some real positives:

    - another point towards safety
    - continued the unbeaten run
    - Frimpong looked very good (so pleased it was only cramp, I thought at the time he would be back to Arsenal double quick)
    - Yann back to a huge roar and ovation.

Ups and downs, it's what this league is about. 3 points against Posh and at least a draw at Millwall next Sat and I'll be more than happy.
  • Like a lot of comments on here, would rather see Jackson at LB and Kerkar further up the wing where he is much more effective. Anyone know how serious the injury to Dan Seaborne is and when he is likely to be back. Shame Rob Hulse didn't score right at the end from a pin-point Danny Green centre!

We get beat 4-1 by Boro at the Valley, We beat Bristol City 2-0 at Ashton Gate, Bristol City beat Boro 3-1 at Riverside

    ..... easy to predict

this example reinforces my point and to my mind makes for an interesting season .. like the Chinese Curse

  • What was positive about the game was Frimpong, the midfield looked far more solid, confidence was much improved, shame haynes wasn't playing, Hulse is quality, Fuller is very good at keeping the ball, overall a good solid performance. The negatives are the final finish in front of goal , the lack of a counterattack, . If we produce the same against peterborough then i am happy.
  • Due to the weather I did not get to the Valley until 2-50, Were there safety net erected behind the temporary goals? Where have we got all this money from? :-)
  • They deserved a point, that was never a red card. I think Morro was embarassed!

Its to stop fans getting injured - article in the programme.
  • Surprised at some of the critisism towards Fuller yesterday. The guy has just returned from injury and is obviously not 100% match fit, that will only come with games.
Considering our injury crisis, I'm quite pleased with a point against a team in the top 6, as disappointing as it was to conceed so close to the end.
Hopefully we will soon be back to a full strengh squad and making a push towards the play-off positions, as I think we have the players capable of doing just that.
If the talk of new investors is true, hopefully CP will be given some cash to spend in January and will go out and buy a left sided mid/winger as this is a position we are lacking in. This is shown when Kerkar is forced to play LB, leaving us only with JJ, who isn't a viable option in this division out wide. I'm personally not convinced with Kerkar either. Seems very one dimensional. As a former full-back in my day, he was the type of winger I loved coming up against. You know exactly where he's going and can read his movement like a book. Not saying he's not good enough, but really need another option out there.

Maybe you should put your CV out there to the other Championship clubs as a full back coach; he's got the most assists for us so far this season with 6 (smiley face)

I agree with this. It is telling that we started the game yesterday with JJ and Pritch on the flanks, both of whom are much better in the centre midfield. We now seem pretty well off in the centre, have options on the right but have no real options on the left - except maybe Callum Harriott but it seems that SCP doesn't think he is ready yet,
  • The thing about Kerkar on the wing is he looks like he's slowly, gently stumbling into the full back but then he comes out the other side with the ball. Literally no idea how he does it (witch?) but it seems to work. If he could get his crossing more consistent he'd be brilliant
  • Spot on Garry.
  • well on the balance of play 1-1 was a fair result .I am trying not be too critcial but we should have made the extra man count a lot more we wasted an awful lot of time passing side ways in the 2nd half (it was almost like watching a team of Ray wilkins ) ..left with the glass half empty feeling but we are still on an un beaten run ..id like 3 points on tuesday though

any news on the injuries to haynes, frimpong and seaborne ?
