New Article: Bradley Pritchard- Non-League to Championship

  • We have several Prem quality players, Hamer, Morro, Wiggins, Stevens Solly and Brad. That quality will see us climb the table.

Pritchard seems like a great bloke and is doing a job for us at the moment, his wotkrate is second to none but prem standard give over.
  • I can feel a paddypower bet coming on, that goal is coming!
  • Not sure if Pritchard is Premiership class - although he might get there one day - but I think of our current squad Morrison, Solly, Stephens and Fuller could play at that level.
  • Love the guy
  • It's tough for Pritch. He's not always consistent on the right but he doesn't get the support he needs if he's not having a good game out there. If you look at the match threads after poor games you always get 'Pritch is not a right midfielder, sort it out Powell' type comments. But then when he plays well he's made the position his own. There's a point where we'll have to agree that he can play on the right and judge how it goes based on performance rather than position. Big fan of his for his work rate, and when he's on form he's superb. Fantastic crosser of the ball
  • Love his energy he offers and the fact that 100% Is the minimum he will ever give us in a game. Hope he will score one day in the league for us. You can tell how much he loves playing for us.
Pritchard to get the winner at Millwall I reckon
  • Got a lot of man love for pritch. Works his nuts off and whenever we score/win/lose you can always tell how much it means to him.

Wish the little Burke who sits in front of me would stop slating him for the 90 mins and actually open his eyes to see what pritch gives us.
  • Good, well thought out article.

"His performances have not only become more assured, but his relationship with the other players has also clearly benefited from his extended run in the team."

I think this is key. Sometimes we judge, and more than often condemn, players after one game or even one sub appearance.

Given a run in a settled side players have a real opportunity to show what they can do.
  • Great article. Pritch has done very well and, like others, I love his attitude. I honestly believe that he is a much better player in the middle than out on the right though. Fine there in a 4-5-1 line up when we are aiming to keep it tight but he lacks the pace and attacking threat to play there consistently in a more offensive 4-4-2. Great bloke though and I am very happy he is getting a run.
  • Very big fan of Pritchard. Amazing to think that someone of his quality didn't get to this level until so late in his career. Its astonishing to think that he may have even left the sport altogether if he couldn't find a full time club.

Very good ball control and lays it off well most of the time.

  • I also think that when he gets one or two goals, these will become a more common elemnt to his game.
  • Thought he was no more than a good squad player till I saw him at Craven Cottage last year - one of our best players in that match constantly harried the opposition and used the ball well when and that was against a full strength premiership side so not too surprising that he has adapted well to Championship

Lacks pace? It's his speed that makes him the player he is and allows him to nick balls in a tackle. His pace is also important in counter attacks.
  • I think he has pace (or tenacity/urgency may be a better word) without the ball, but he noticeably slows down with the ball at his feet in my opinion.
  • I think he is very quick off the ball, but not in possession. You will rarely see him push the ball past a player and sprint past them after it in the way a traditional giggs or rommedahl winger would. He is much more likely to stop and pass square or try and work the space for a cross past the defender beckham-style. Which is fine as his deliveries are on the whole decent enough.

If hes to push his game onto the next level i think he just needs to find a bit more strength, as he is slight and just occasionally will put in some great work tackling or chasing back or get into a good forward position but just get overpowered by the stronger players.

He scored against Halifax in the FA Cup this time last year.....................

Just to add my twopeneth................I'm still not convinced and would prefer a natural winger playing on the right - prefer Green as we need supply to the forward line. To me, Pritchard is a lesser mans Kish - gets around the pitch , breaking up play, but doesn't actually create very much.

I realise this may not go down with all you Pritch lovers, but thats my opinion.

  • It's strange to see you go against the general consensus
  • Plenty of energy and a tidy little player but still not sure where he would be best used. I think he would need to bulk up a bit to play in the middle and on the wing he doesn't supply crosses like a winger should.
I hope he continues to gain experience and improves other areas of his game. ie not go racing upfield in the last 5 minutes when we're winning by an odd goal.
  • I've been very impressed with Bradley this season. Probably our most improved player. However, like others I think he is wasted on the right. He's not a natural wing player and putting him out there diminishes his contribution to the team. In the middle he is a terrier, providing the kind of midfield energy we have lacked a lot of the time, last season as well as this. I would much rather keep him there and put a more natural winger on the right. Goodness knows we have enough of them!

As a more or less defensive midfielder, that is exactly the job Pritch is asked to do!

And how well he does it.

Constantly covering, tracking - he wins the ball, passes, moves to be in a position to receive again. If the move breaks down, he's covering, tracking, tackling, passing ......

He's a key team player that provides the platform for the more creative players to perform.

  • Great article BTW
  • Pritch has got no legs.
  • Bradley loves Charlton Life too (and yes it's for sale)image
  • Player with great attitude - very much a team player. Wish more players worked as hard as he does.

Not a wide player in my opinion but best suited to a 5 man midfield.

Can see him making an excellent coach or manager in the future as he really leads by example.
  • Loved Pritch before I'd even seen him play. In a pre season interview on CAFCPlayer before the start of last season. IMO his signing heralded a new beginning for CAFC. In that interview he displayed an overwhelming pride in becoming a Charlton player and gave the impression that he was so honored that he would play for no monetary reward if requested. That kind of attitude is infectious and has gone a long way in shaping the great team spirit that Powell has managed to build. His performance on the pitch away at Fulham in the cup convinced me that he has the talent to make it to the very top. He has the ability, the engine and the intelligence to make the very most of his talent.
  • Very enjoyable article well done!

As for Pritchard he radiates determination to make the most of what he has. He has come late to the professional game and is grabbing his chance with both hands.

Somebody once referred to success being 1% inspiration 99% perspiration and Pritch has no shortcomings on the perspiration side of things that's for sure.
  • Brilliant article, almost as good as Pritch himself in fact.
