Time for a change?

After yesterdays penalty miss, that makes it 3 out of 3 failed spot kicks for Jackson.

The question is: Do we stick with the skipper or let someone else have a go?

Some saying yesterdays effort was poor, but personally, I didn't think it was a bad attempt, keeper just guessed right...............

  • Nope, change now. Jacko knows it.
  • Change and drop from side please
  • Jacko has lost his mojo. He used to smash em but is now trying to pass them in. Fuller or Stephens i reckon.
  • Personally I always like a striker to take spot kicks. They should relish rather than fear a free shot at the goal from twelve yards out with only the GK to beat. Blast hard and head height. Mendonca was sublime.
  • I thought that was real poor yesterday and 50-50 if it goes in cos all pro keepers would save that if they went the right way ... Weak ... And those odds aren't good enough for a pen ....
Who to replace ....I wouldn't mind dale stephens putting his foot thru it
  • Apparently Paul Hayes is a nigh-on flawless penalty taker. I always thought it was a little bit silly that we never let him take any as you can't ever really be convinced by Jacko's pens. Still, he got them when we needed them, MK Dons being the prime example. There's no one is the squad who really jumps out as a penalty taker in our squad though. I'd say Solly, purely because I want Solly to score all the time. I'd also recommend all our players dive in the box all the time on the off chance we fool the ref once or twice. Other than that I'm stuck
  • give the job to solly
  • Change and drop from side please

I take it you wernt at the Cardiff and Bristol games?
  • Yes (plus Burnley) and been going home and away for 43 years. Next question please.
  • I think we need a change here really, he's tried hitting it down the middle, blasting it and placing it in 3 penalties this season and seen all of them fail.

Of the current starting XI I would think Stephens would fancy his chances given how cleanly he strikes the ball.

Haynes and Hulse have also taken penalties before albeit not regularly. Fuller would be my choice provided he's on the pitch.

Not sure if posted as a piss-take or not but despite what happened at Leicester, he'd be my choice......
  • Solly ? (Great strike at Blackpool).
  • Powell will stick with jacko and he'll smash one in from 12 yards against Millwall. Nailed on FACT
  • If Fullers on I'd let him have them if not Stephens or Solly.

Then you would have seen how he changed the game vs Cardiff, led by example at Bristol and had a part in creating the winning goal vs burnley?
  • Morro to smash it
  • I took a series of pics as JJ took his pen. As he was about it kick the ball with his left foot his stance showed that there was only one way the ball was going - too the left, the goalie didn't have to guess. If JJ had hit the ball hard it would have beaten the goalie, but he didn't.
I can post the pic if you're interested.
and yes we do need to change our pen taker, who?, I don't know ask CP!
  • My son reckons Hamer should take them!

    thats not relevant
  • Yes please to the pic lanccy
  • Lancs exactly what I thought from his run up. I was nervous about him taking it having missed the last two and the way he opened his body it was only going one side. It was a good save low down by the keeper but when you are 100% sure about which way the ball is going you are always going to have a fighting chance of getting down there unless the ball is struck with power.
