I love heavy rock music, but Foos just seem so bland. The guitars don’t really produce any memorable melodies, and Grohl just shouts over the top. All just a bit vanilla.

Whats going on with arctic monkeys. Surely they have a better song to open with?
Got to that point of their career where they’re just trying to be a bit too clever.

Just put it on bbc2 and there’s some weirdo in a syrup prancing about whilst his Doris is standing and dancing like a freak. Looks great….
    That was Cate Blanchett apparently

Are you sure you’ve not switched over to a rerun of the Paul Daniels show by mistake mate?

Sparks were very good but weirdly they referred to it being their first Glastonbury, which is not true. I saw them here only 4-5 years ago. The brothers are now aged 77 and 74, vocals still impeccable. Some going…

Teddy Picker is a brilliant tune.

Saw Arctic Monkeys at the Emirates last week and it was an incredible night. Doesn’t feel like this is translating very well on tv though.

Sparks - it’s bonkers a band can be main staging Glastonbury after being active for 57 years and tonight’s the first time I’ve heard of them!

So glad I saw Arctic Monkeys plenty of times before they went all Vegas.

It's because many of their "better" contemporaries are dead.

I love the Tony bennet crooning and the retro 70s look and styling of the stage. Not for everyone. No band thats been around for years ‘stood still’ they have to develop sounds and progress.
Not sure why people are surprised they’ve changed since they were 21.
Saw them in 2007 at Glastonbury. Hope to see them again in another phase from my sofa in 2033.

I’m not a fan of their new stuff but you have to admire a band as popular as them just being a different realm of not giving a shit what people think.

It’s nearly 20 years since Whatever people say, and they’ve changed. I know I’m in a very sizeable minority, but I love the new stuff, the Car is a cracking album.

Exactly. I’ve not bought an album since the first. But since @buckshee burnt me a copy of their demo album and we all went to Amsterdam to see them before they released ‘bet you look good on the dance floor’ I’ve always been fond of them and nostalgic for their history.

Also Alex turner was in the leadmill club once when we were up there playing a Sheffield side and was semi famous and I always liked that he kept it real. For a bit.

Did they just end Arabella with the riff from Black Sabbath's Paranoid?

Yes. I thought it was Metallica but was corrected. Although was told it was War Pigs.

Not into the latest stuff of theirs but if that’s the way he sings those songs fair do, it’s singing the stuff off the first two albums like it that pisses me off, not just crooning it’s all out of time.

Not heard much from them apart from first two albums and the odd single from AM. Like the complete tangent they've gone on

It's Scott Walker channeling Mark E Smith, without anyone telling the drummer

This is incredibly dull save for one or two songs. Whats the point of changing styles if your going to bore the audience(maybe im in the minority)
  • Hot Chip on the Woodsies Stage  = pretty good.

Dave Grohl was looking distinctively Jeff Lynne(esq) this evening. A look that no pop/rock star wants...

Also, Alex Turners voice is croaked, i saw AM last Sunday and he was struggling then.

Cancelled the Dublin gig during the week with laryngitis. Feels like he’s not forcing it too much tonight.

Arctic Monkey's were superb on Saturday, miles better than tonight and as TelMc32 said he was saving his voice and speaking rather than singing much of the time. Not his fault of course.
