  • 14 minutes into the game was the first break in Chrissy Powell's Red n White Army.

Well done those in the North Upper who sung themselves horse tonight and stood up to be counted. You showed your true colours.

THAT is what being a supporter is all about.

Cheers Dan, Voice is knackered......... but well worth it

    Hey hey hey TJ
Did you hear us singing for Chrissy today?

Folks in the directors box were joining in, Jim Davidson was giving it some, the lower West was singing and clapping. Not heard it like that before, very proud of everyone.
  • Anyone see them poor mugs storming out once we went 2 down? They won't do that again! Well done everyone else, more if the same. COYR!!!
  • Usually I struggle to hear the support with headphones on, tonight it was loud and clear even at 2-0 down, incredible...
  • Quality support!!!! Well done to our boys, the 2 young lads who are our drummers banged away all night. my voice is f*cked!!!! I was VERY proud to stand with the boys in J block and sing my heart out. Proper football experience tonight, I haven't had a Tuesday night game like that for a long time. COYR!!!

A lot better commentary the last 2 games Pete

  • Absolutely brilliant. Who says we need to switch ends - we just need to sing!

Greenie Junior: did the Red Division organise anything in particular for this?

Thanks Rob, it felt like it, Ian did a cracking job...
  • Fantastic support tonight. Probably the best I can remember for a long time! Many thanks to the North Stand who were inspirational. I was overwhelmed when everyone stood up in response to the 'Stand Up if You Love Charlton'!
I can't stand the talk about Chrissy'e body language as it was not very positive but I hope he was just overwhelmed as well. If ever a crowd made it very clear (in a positive way) that they are behind the manager and team, it was CAFC tonight. Come on Bristol City!

  • Immensely proud, not just the players but the outstanding fans. Effin excellent.
  • Proud of the effort tonight. Obviously there was a pre planned motive behind the continuous chanting for Chrissy but at 0-2 it would have been easy to stop and give up. Well done everyone.

The boys around the drummers just said before the game ' lets keep it up for the 90 minutes'.

There was much talk of it on here over the last few days so that can't be a complete coincidence.

  • Yes mate there has been. However not all fans are on CL. It was one of those nights though. Was proud to be part of it tonight.
  • Great! Except for the miserable c*nt in the NE behind me calling me a "noisy bitch" for joining in at 1 nil down.
See you at Bristol... Oh, wait...
  • really enjoyed the commentary as well - well done PeteF

We didn't have anything in particular planned for tonight but we all said to eachother, keep it up for 90 mins tonight, suppose it helps when the drummers are involved with the group

great work - really glad the fans stood behind the team tonight, easy to spit bile & rant from behind a keyboard but to get out there & not waver in the face of early adversity - that's true Charlton spirit
  • That was a great effort last night the type of support I wish we could muster all the time but not sure we have the personality to keep that sort of thing going all the time
    SCP deserves that every game

  • the noise last night reminded me of our first season in the prem after the play off's, it was like that every home game win'lose or draw. Over the the northstand singers, you have set the marker it's needs to be met every game.
  • I always moan about how fickle our supporters are and how they moan and boo, but last night when their second went in I think (hope) we turned a corner. The response from everyone at CAFC was amazing, proud.

Where were you all sitting Greenie Jnr?

I met some top boys tonight.

  • I left the ground feeling proud to be a charlton supporter last night.

Not because we put 5 goals past the top of the league team though; that was just a bonus. Not even because we fought back from being 2-0 down within 25 minutes; although that was also rather admirable. No, I left the ground feeling proud because I felt as though every single fan today put away the negativity that's been drowning the atmosphere away, forgot about our current form, forgot about our league position.. and they just got behind the lads, 110%.

For over 10 minutes there was constant singing about Chris Powell, even throughout the goals we conceded. There was a real sense of positivity, not a sense of doom and gloom - and I genuinely feel it was that which led to such a stunning come back. I've said recently that I believe our poor home form could, to an extent, be affected by just how bad the atmosphere can be at times. It's catch-22 obviously, but we are all too quick to jump on the players backs when even the slightest mistake is made.

However, yesterday this was a million miles away from what was going on. We had the return of the good ol' 'We are the H/J Block, Covered End', we were bouncing once more, we were happy. And yes, we were happy when we were 2-0 down.

Well done lads and lasses, you did your team proud yesterday - and I think they tried their best to repay you for it. Roll on Bristol.
  • Well said mate , last night was superb
  • Hats off to the covered end last night. You should feel very proud today. There is no doubt the support helped the result last night. Fantastic. I'm sure the players appreciate it. Even when we were playing bad there was nobody hiding - everyone giving a 100%. In a negative atmosphere some may hide.

Let's keep it going - let's deafen Ashton Gate
  • Well done to the North Stand last night, immense. I'm sure like me most of you have sore throats this morning.

That support at 2-0 down probably saved CP's job last night!
  • Loved it in upper last last it was rocking!
Just had a sneak on cardiffs forum n they all want malky gone
    So fickle
    Anyway terrific last night
    Lets keep it up
  • Best support at The Valley for a 'regular' league game in years. The noise was more and more deafening as each goal went in during the second half - it was great!
  • Great atmosphere, it's interesting how last night really brought out the best in the support, whereas Palace, the long awaited local derby was a real damp squib.
