Should we have sacked curbs when we were relegated from prem 1st time?? No, we need stability. Whoever comes in after Powell is here for the pound note, not the club.
Devils advocate here - do you honestly believe Powell is not here for money 2?
If he were getting paid then you might have a point.
I agree with your points AFKA. I think the problem is that all the teams have resources and no team has a divine right to be in any position. Derby and Millwall are clearly not top sides in the Championship and Villa and Sunderland are just not able to compete with most of the teams in the Premier League.
I think the key, and this applies to us, equally as much, is that there needs to be a readdressing of the resources invested and the expectations of the success that they will bring. Villa and Sunderland have spent a of of money over the years, but not significantly more than those around them. Derby and Millwall have never made significant investments in their playing staff and even though Derby had a season in the Premier League they had an exceptional manager to get them there and were really poor during that one season in the top flight.
I'm not sure there are many that think Powell is not good enough, but Airman Brown came on here to let us all know that it is believed to be understood that TJ is not very keen and is almost waiting for the opportunity to sack him. With all the undisclosed transfer deals we will, probably, never know but I don't think we have spent anywhere near as much on our squad as the other teams in the Championship have, and subsequently we should be near the bottom.
It's all well and good saying that you expect the Manager (or Coach) to squeeze more out of the resources at his disposal than all the other club's Managers, but that is what all Chairmen want. In the end if you give your manager half as much money as another team you can't, realistically, expect him to finish above them.
Let's remember that Pardew spent close £15m in eighteen months (ignoring wages) and we were no better off at this stage in the season under him.

Have I missed something here? Or is this just in relation to club supposedly having no money? Fuller came in and must be on 10K a week so am sure we are paying Powell.

AFKA, I agree 99% with what you write. Where we differ ? .. SOMEtimes bringing in a new manager can have an immediate impact when it is obvious that a manager has 'lost the dressing room', a lovely phrase meaning that the players think the current manager is a useless wally with the brain of a retarded rocking horse. Changing the manager now would be bad for us. At the very least because invariably a new man will want money to sign players that he fancies, money we almost certainly do not have. Secondly, Powell has the backing of his players and THE FANS and is doing a good job in trying circumstances. BUT (there always is one) Powell must decide p d q what tactics to use consistently home & away. He needs to do this a s a p .. otherwise, players being as fickle as they are, he could 'lose' them. Our squad is not that strong although it is still very much together, and is weakened by injury. It's Powell's squad and he and they deserve almost unconditional support. There are some terrific teams assembled at great expense in this division, ours was raised on the cheap. We need to bear that in mind all the time.
"Let's remember that Pardew spent close £15m in eighteen months (ignoring wages)" And for some reason people always do. Salraies are a very real issue. Parkinson chose to spend his money on retaining players n high wages rather than buying in players on cheap wages. People therefore think Parky speant / was given no money which is absolutely not true. The fact that Powell said last year that he was building a championship sqaud meant to me that he was bringing players in paying salaries that were also championship level. Therefore he IS spending money this year - he is spendng it on player wages.

Precisely - you can spend all the money you want (or have) but if the manager consistently plays the wrong players, or plays them out of position them whose fault is it ????
are there that many getting twitchy feet? I think the only one's we need worry about with twitchy feet are those inhabiting the Boardroom. I'm sure nigh on 100% of fans are behind CP.
large is right, if all the fans are behind Chris Powell, why do we keep banging on about it on here it doesn't help things in the long run.

I really don't know what you are trying to say here. Are you suggesting that Powell is playing the wrong players and playing them out of position? Or were you referring to Pardew's teams?
I still thnk we can go on a run - we are not a bad side at this level. When you keep chipping away and nothing seems to happen you get the lack of confidence factor which came into play on Staurday. We shouldn't forget that we was the better side against both Leeds and Wolves. Hulse missed a chance at the end against Wolves that if any of us had missed it would still be bugging us - that is confidence or lack of it. When you get a chance for a shot and you scuff it or a free header that you head over - that is confidence. These things can get worse before they get better or one game can put them right.
Tomorrow is a great opportunity to put things right. It might help the side if expectations are low as long as we get behind them. There aren't any truly stand out sides at this level and I'll include Cardiff in that statement. We can certainly beat them if we are a bit sharper and we don't make silly defensive lapses. We know the lads are better than that so heres to the turn around tomorrow.

When people keep saying how "worried" they are, we all know it somewhere down the line leads to the manager's name coming up.
I also think some people are pre-empting what Jiminez would be thinking about recent results.
