The term "proper" has been given to Everton about 5-6 times in this thread. Certainly not disagreeing with that, but I am also curious to understand what makes them so proper ahead of others?
Worked one long late summer on a building site in Dawlish as a student and used to watch Torquay United in their Friday evening games and have liked them, and looked out for them ever since.
i have a few: Swansea: Having Welsh connections and i dislike Cardiff Welling:Local boys and we all love Welling! Rangers: Because Rangers are my Scottish boys for fun! Hertha Berlin: I've seen them play in Berlin was very good! Bury : I dont know why but i have a soft spot for Bury
Canvey local team & have been along a few times with my nephew & fella when we are away. Nice lil stadium, old style terracing & can have a beer & a ciggy whilst watching the match. Southend again local team to where I live. Hartlepool - their fans. Norwich, Sunderland & Ipswich (Ipswish away was my first ever match 4-4) Fulham had a very close family friend now passed away who was a huge fan but would also come along to the valley & abuse the ref & lino & get behind the team. Part time Addick bless him.
Donny Rovers - living here and all the in laws are big fans...........Partick Thistle cos growing up I mis-read it as Patrick which is my name and Bognor Regis town as lived there for 18 years.
Always look out for Cheltenham's results as my partner's late uncle supported them and my son says he supports them (though I take him to Charlton). Watch out for results from Orient and York as I've got mates who follow them. Like Blackpool, cos of the style of play and Ollie. Ditto Swansea. Internationally, Barcelona.
So many people on here with a liking for Everton. I just don't get it, they've always been a nothing team to me. Is it an anti-Liverpool thing?
I always look at Everton as a proper football club. Always seems like an old school atmosphere in their typically English stadium. Just come across as a 'real' football team.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle has been my 'second team' for around 15 years after watching them win the Third Division back in the 90's a couple of years after their formation. I've managed to get up to watch a home match almost every year, combining it with an annual pilgrimage to the north of Scotland and what a stunning jouney to make for an away trip. Like us, they were forced to play their home games at another ground, only for one season but at Aberdeen, 110 miles away!!! Terry Butcher's management star has never shone so bright as it shines now!
Welling because they became my Football Manager team (I like a challenge) Leicester because they are my dad's team (kind of like where I like them to do well but want to beat them more than anything when we play them)
Tranmere - a good mate of mine from going to England games is a Tranmere fan so always like to see them do well, always well looked after on my trips to the Wirral. QPR - again got a few mates from England games who are QPR fans, season before last I used to go over there quite a lot for a few beers before games.
Other than that I hate anything thats not Charlton Athletic
Real Betis - lived in Sevilla for a year and went to a good few games as the city's "underdogs" and the more working class club, it was an easy sell to a Charlton fan!
Rangers - always struck by the pro-Britishness and pride in the United Kingdom and by the number of English players they had in the 90s when I was growing up, particularly Gazza. Supporters in the family as well.
If I had to pick teams in England, did have a soft spot for Leyton Orient as I was born/grew up in Leyton and at the time we weren't crossing paths (this has pretty much gone now!), of the top clubs, soft spot for Villa as I know a good few of them and they are all top guys, easy with Benty there now as well.
