Especially when there are some annoying kids in front of you, getting stuck in seats, screaming etc.

Sincere apologies, if they were with a harassed looking bald bloke they were with me. Too much s

It kills the atmosphere dead. Many people I know dont usually sit in their seats but all move up and sit together, all singing etc. But you can't do this when its full, (i know you should all buy your st's next to eachother to get around it) and the singing is more subdued. Didn't really help that we played hoofball nothingness and our 5 man midfield played really narrow and still got overran though tbh.

Remember 10,000 £5 tickets is only 2,500 £20 tickets, so I expect most of the revenue we gain is from merchandise etc.

The ticket revenue today will have been higher than it would have been at full price. Easily.
What is the average amount of tickets sold so far including away fans for each home game?
I would be surprised if it was less than a quarter of what was sold saturday. Although merchandise and food and drink sales would be greatly increased.
  • I've always thought having the whole of the jimmy sees stand for home fans would be better and putting away fans in the end of the east (nearest the big screen) would be a lot better. However achieving that with safety etc would be difficult.

Totally agreed. I have no idea why we give the away fans the stand that carries the noise best. Remember the old north stand that carried noise so well. Stick them in the south end of thewest upper no one sits there anyway!
  • Qiuck answer is No as the following weeks the crowd goes back to the same level. Personally it isn't worth the effort we are subjected to a load of divs who don't know where their seat is hence they walk the whole length of the row to try and find it. On top of that you get muppets trying to get to their seat 5-10 minutes after kick off! For f**ks sake the kick off time is well publicised just get there on time!

    I am getting grumpy!

it probably goes back to the same level because those divs have had to sit near cheerful people like you.
  • You could be right Baldy but seriously with an extra 8-9000 there is no more atmosphere and it doesn't appear to bring in any extra fans long term.

I think it's down to finances Dave, a lot of those extras simply can't afford the full ticket prices.
As for the atmosphere, there was none but i think it's up to the regulars to get things going.
  • Atmosphere was flat probably due to the performance as much as anything. Remember Chesterfield (3-2?) being a great atmosphere.

Think its a good idea, will get young kids in to watch with their family. Had four guys with their four young sons in front of us in North Lower. Was great to see them all getting behind the team and potentially bringing in merchandising rev as well as setting up future fan base.

Cant imagine why people wouldn't want to see a full stadium now and again
  • Agree Addickted I love a full stadium but somehow theses £5 days don't seem to work for me
  • Thought it was interesting there were announcements about the Peterboro game being reduced, yet reading the programme, the Ipswich and Brighton game ticket will INCREASE! Any thoughts on that?

  • Maybee only pay the players 5pound after that performance?
  • Forgot to add, a young lad (about 4-5) behind me with the shout "Barnsley smell of poo" was a highlight, along with three of the four of about the same age in front with the shout "get the ball, kick it in the goal (repeat)". And people say no-one tried to create an atmosphere?
  • £5 tickets bring fantastic atmosphere to the ground and makes the game a million times more enjoyable.

If we play football rather than whatever that was on Saturday... A goal being celebrated by all full stadium is amazing...

Bit generous if you ask me.

I think the club makes more money if it picks the right games. Barnsley was never going to attarct a big gate otherwise and you have the spending around th eground. Of course you can't do it too often as people would stop buying season tickets but you should do it as much as you can.
