We were 10 seconds away from 3 points at Birmingham.
Had a good goal disallowed against hull.
Ditto vs palace
Came back well at forest and derby.
Panic not
It's true .. luck has been against us .. a non pen at Derby allied to a horrible defensive error .. as all the best pundits tell us, luck evens out over a season .. let's hope our 'turn' starts soon .. BUT we need to start making our own luck .. decent team selections and a bit more 'passion' wouldn't go amiss
we've only played 6 games, if we're in this position come december i'll be more worried but in this league all you need is a few decisions to could go your way and you move up 10 places, especially at this stage. Powell's gonna make more signings whether loans or permanent. before the season started i said i'd be happy with 21st or higher but knew we'de finish higher than that and i'm still confident of a mid table finish despite a dodgy start. and if our goals against Hull and Palace were given we might not even have this thread up. still another 120 points to play for if my maths is correct ;-) too many people hitting the panic button... DON'T PANIC
The Championship is such a competitive league, you scan the fixtures and scratch your head as to where the next win will come from...and yet at the same time you also look at those fixtures and think you could pick up points in all of them! A bit of luck, or a confidence boosting win setting you off on a good run, things can quickly turn around, but we may need additional personnel first/
i think we've had a decent amount of luck in the fact that leicester and hull didn't have their proper shooting boots on and nor did palace or derby cos we could have been hammered in them games imo

Can I just say that I am not panicking.I have never panicked and I never will panic in the future.I am just giving my views on what I have seen this Season against the teams We have played against. We should have beaten Birmingham. We should have been beaten by Leicester,if they had taken their chances. We were deservedly beaten by Notts Forest.Hull were the better team against us and missed a number of chances.Palace were the better team against us and deserved the win. Finally Derby were the better team for Sixty Five minutes. You can cite disallowed goals and penalty decisions against us all you like, but we have been second best in the majority of games this season.
Anyone who says "we're going down" at this point seriously need to take a look at themselves. There is another transfer window ahead of us, the best player in our squad in just getting himself back to fitness and we have only lost one home game.
Don't really understand how anyone can judge if there are three worse teams than us when we have only played a quarter of them.
any good christian soldier knows that luck has nothing to do with it, its all in the hands of the lord jesus christ... i suggest we pray, repent our sins, live good honest lives, help the needy and then, just maybe our fortune will turn and the holy one will see us right?

UP THE JESUS!!!
Conversely, it's clearly God's will that we are in the relegation zone.

there is a sinner in the camp, the sooner they get down the confession box the better!

spot on. we've probably had the same amount of good luck with the chances others have missed as our bad luck with 2 goal decisions.btw i know goals change games.
What's all this mini league stuff? I say put 100% in to every game regardless of whether it be Blackpool away or Peterboro at home, this league has proven time and time again that anyone can beat anyone of their day.
And also, we are 6 games in, as someone pointed out on another thread, Reading were 23rd this time last season, not saying we are promotion material, but lets panic in say 3 months time.
We definitely have one of the weaker squads in this division but if CP gets the best out of the players we should stay up. It doesn't take much to make our fans panic given some of the poor runs we've had in recent seasons.
I wish people would stop saying panic.I don't see too many people panicking on this forum.Concern at the way we have started,is a different matter.Anyway I am going to finish with a well worn cliche,it is a long Season. The end.
To early but based on the Championship matches i attended last season, id say yes over a season, as despite losing to Palace & Derby im very confident we will be above them once 46 games have been played.
I agree there is no need to panic. I opened this thread by saying I think there are three teams more likely to end 22nd, 23rd and 24th than CAFC. I named them and suggested that there are probably others will finish below us, too.
But I'd also caution agains the ''see where we are at Chrsitmas'' and ''all we need is our luck to change'' approach. It sounds too much like what we were hearing on here in the autumn of 2008 - and we all know what happened!
It will take hard work rather than luck and an improvement in skill, strategy and application. Powell and his players know that all too well, too, whereas four years ago, Pardew didn't seem to grasp it and totally lost the plot.
In fact, I don't really buy the luck thing at all. We were''unlucky'' not to get all three pts v Birmingham. We were ''lucky'' Leicester didn't get an equaliser in that one-way second-half. We were very ''lucky'' to get a point when outplayed by Hull. And you might argue we were ''unlucky'' not to get a point v Palace as a perfectly good goal was disallowed.
The stats show we ended up with five points from those four games. But if you change the results of them all according to the 'luckometer' calculations above, you still end up with five points - so I'd suggest the good luck/bad luck calibration cancels itself out.
Don't panic is right. But let's not leave it to waiting for a change of luck!
We can all see that part of the team which has been failing. If we can see it, it must be blindingly obvious to the management.
I can't see us going through the season without Powell being given the chance to bring in an experienced midfielder or 2.
In any case, despite some recent disjointed 1st half performances, the team in fits and starts is showing signs of finding its feet with strong spirited finishes to games.
A bit of a steep learning curve right now - but far too early in the season to say we won't be able to survive in the division.
Hopefully others, too, but let's not get over-ambitious just yet.
Any other thoughts on the bottom three come next May?
It's a marathon, not a sprint, sorry for the cliche. A shame we have lost the last three but we will be midtable come the end of the season. Perhaps if we look at the table after 15 games then that would be a good indication on our season.
