Pointing out (to her) that the Missus has a zit on her arse doth not mean I do not love her.
Was it Goethe who said that?
mmmm ''' sounds more Greek then Germanic
Implying that Saint Chris has an acute dermatological problem in his posterior region and that this might be affecting his selection rational is just a typical example of this type of despicable disloyalty.
This is just my opinion which is just as valid as yours.
That's why we have debates.
I am not saying that SCP is above criticism or comment but to start implying that we know better than him on who to pick as a Charlton full back seems to me pretty bonkers.
Feel free to disagree. Its (almost) a free country.
it would be good to hear SCP reason for not going with Evina, maybe theres a problem there. But on paper, it seems just as bonkers to start Solly on the left, taking our POTY out of positon, when we have a LB on the bench.

A painful pimple can be a GREAT distraction from concentrating on the important things in life

Especially as it appears Wilson had a stinker at RB!
Wasn't at the match and didn't follow the match thread. After reading this thread I'm just hoping CP is learning and can turn it round before too long. Last season we got into the habit of winning - we're in danger of getting into the habit of losing this season, which can be difficult to turn round - as some recent previous managers have found.
I didn't go so only post this as an observation and question as to how accurately (or not) the radio commentary reflects actuality.
I heard the last half hour of the first half commentary on Radio London and what struck me was how rarely the midfielders were mentioned relative to everyone else. I heard the name Stephens once, Hollands twice and Jackson and Green about five times each. I'd say all the others (yes even "lazy" BWP) were into double figures for mentions.
no you are right Len , that's how little our midfield were involved they were cutting their way though us with such ease first half it was embarrassing we can count ourselves lucky their finishing was woeful or it could have been a cricket score

Exactly. We are playing a right winger at right back and a right back at left back, neither of whom are doing what they are best at in those positions. If I was Evina I'd be knocking on SCP's door today and asking for a loan move or a transfer as I clearly have no future at the club under Powell. Including Evina on the bench but playing Solly and Wilson is really just rubbing salt in the wound.
If we are going to continue with Wilson and Solly then I'd probably switch them over. Wilson is poor defensively so we might as well put him on the left and play Solly in his natural position. Would funnel all the attacks down our left flank but at least we'd know where they're coming from!
Maybe CP needs to work out why they are starting slowly and passing the initiative to the opposition. It sounds like Derby were given too easy a time of it for 60 odd minutes just like Palace.
I am at a loss what to think tbh. One hour of sub standard dross followed by thirty minutes of decent possession and threat. I take heart from the last bit but it would seem on what I have seen so far this season that the sub standard part is more indicative of our performances. Seems Kerkar must start and likewise Fuller. Huge question marks over Hollands and Jacksons lack of pace in midfield for me. We need reinforcements and pdq. Another loss at Ipswich and some of those rumours regarding SCP coming under pressure might however ludicrous be true. not panicking yet but there is cause for concern. We need to get back to basics at Portman Road and get a point whatever it takes.
If Evina is fit, then we might as well save some money and get him off the wage bill. No point in keeping a reserve left back on the books if you're not going to use him.

Was thinking exactly the same myself. We have had Cedric long enough to know if he's gonna make it and he's not a teenager. If SCP doesn't think he's good enough then get rid.
Well one thing is apparent .......with the present starting team, the fabled diamond formation just isn't working.
Back to basics - the tried and tested, that our current squad are familiar with.
I'm so surprised that he stuck with this formation. the worst game during pre-season was against gillingham where we played the diamond which was a disaster. had no attacking threat, the centre backs became our play makers and the midfield had no space and little of the ball to make anything happen. i thought powell would of learnt from that. forest he did the same thing with cook in the middle, same result. let’s hope he's learnt that it doesn’t work.
I heard them, loud and clear, in Prague. Especially for a penalty shout. Sounded a lot more than 443.
the Derby fans must have deafened you then, unless the mike was in our end, cos from where i was in the charlton end they were deafening once they got going which was not often ....the first half was so quiet from both sets of fans

Ignore this. It is an obvious wind up. Don't understand why he wants to go, (if he did) and then come on here belittling our support, after Prague has told it how he heard it.
Was the Derby penalty a dodgy decision or what. From the skysports footage, it looks like he leaned into Green and then just fell over. Anyone get a good view? I couldn't see a trip, push or pullback. I think we were robed again.
It was up the other end, Absurdistan so didn't get a decent look at it.
Reactions , esp from Greenie , indicated it was VERY soft.
I know it's all too easy to criticise officials but felt last night that once more, we were very much the visitors with the ref seemingly swayed by the home crowd all too often.
We where there last night, and I think I agree with most that have been said by the people who where there, first half midfield didn't turn up, thought Jackson was very poor and made a few half hearted attempts to tackle, Wilson in my opinion shouldn't have been on the pitch, Holland was also poor. Start of the second half prior to the subs coming on I thought we played a bit better, after the subs come on and the reshuffle then things improved again, certainly Jackson cme into it a bit more.I thought Fuller played very well but made a terrible error in taking the ball off Kerkar for the dissallowed goal, why he just didn't let Kerkar run on I don't know. Green was my man of the match, although I didn't realised he gave the penalty away.
Thought the limited number of fans made plenty of noise, and I am surprised not much has been mentioned about the hand ball in the last few minutes, wasn't only hand ball but I thought he caught it.

Not at all. In fact several times the excellent Phil Parry and Bradley Allen commented that the Derby fans were very quiet, especially given that they were winning.
They also agreed the penalty against us was very soft but did not seem to have a clear view regarding the not given handball in the Derby box
A performance that started dreadfully for Charlton, was recovered in the second half. In the first half we were woeful, bereft of ideas and on the back foot. It appeared that Nigel Clough had got the edge in terms of tactics in the first half, or it could be that early events went against us, and confidence and then play collapsed. Whatever the reason, Derby could and indeed should have scored more.
Whatever was said at half time by CP worked. Charlton came out and gave it a go. This was slightly, but too the players credit not fully, deflated by the third goal. CP then brought on Kerkar and the King of Stoke, who immediately combined to score, only to have it ruled out.
With Kerkar and Green running at the Derby defence, Derby now found themselves on the back foot. This sensation can't have been helped when they realised that Fuller could simply go past them at will. Danny Green, who has now established himself as a Championship player, then scored a goal of beauty. With Charlton now in the ascendancy a second goal then arrived. In a game where we had two shots cleared off the line, a goal disallowed and a penalty turned down, a Charlton equalizer would have been fair, but this never came.
Going into the game, I would of selected, if fully fit, Evina and Solly at full back. However if CP thinks Solly can play left back, then he probably can. Solly at left back seemed not at his normal level, but improved as the game went on. Wilson seemed on par with the rest of the defence. With patience, this full back pairing can probably work.
BWP didn't do much wrong, in terms of movement and enthusiasm, but the lack of service meant he didn't have much chance to shine.
When fully fit, it will be worth increasing the involvement of both Kerkar and Fuller. Central midfield needs addressing, a player such as Reo-Coker alongside Stephens may be the solution.
In the end, not a disaster, and positives can certainly be found.
