You're a ref, aren't you? Good to see a ref who sees the merit of "video support", as I'd call it.

Yes I am a ref at semi-pro level. It was the wrong decision but one the lino couldn't possibly have seen. He had two Charlton players between him and the Palace player on the ground playing BWP onside. As far as he sees it's offside. The video can show the line from the other side and see the grounded Palace player playing BWP onside and the correct decision is reached. I know how difficult running the line can be and at pro-level technology has to be used. It's 2012 ffs, football is about as technologically advanced as it was 40 years ago.
  • If you can bear to watch it on the Football league show, you can freeze frame the moment it was headed on to BWP.
You'll see he is being played onside by the furthest two defenders from the linesman. Not one but TWO.
Then the idiot commentator compounds it with, '...flag raised because when it came to Wright Philips he is ahead of the last defender.'
WTF. You'd hope that the commentator would actually understand the laws of the game.

@Oggy Red spent all day looking for it, in the end all courtesy of a lifer's Facebook page:

  • Many thanks, LoOkie.....much appreciated. Didn't expect you to spend your Sunday looking for it tho.
  • If the official apologised at half time how did he know he made the wrong decision?! Presumably he wouldn't have seen the replay then?

I remember that great Italian tit Murinho claining a "win" at Everton when it finished 2-2 as Chelski had a goal given offside when it wasn't

    He's Portugese, fella

    classic....

How dare you talk about Mourinho like that....

    he's a PORTUGUESE tit.
  • Can we now please finally put to bed the old argument that we can't use video technology because it will spoil the flow of the game. I've seen enough unjust game spoiling incidents against my team, that I don't care if I have to wait for 30 seconds whilst the referee has a second look on the iphone type device that he has in his top pocket. How much longer does this lottery have to continue for before something is done?

We have been done in our last 2 home games by inept officials - You could also claim that the penalty incident at Forest would have gone our way after video review - There is the view that we should just acknowledge we didn't play brilliantly and accept it but that is utter bo****ks.

They say it all evens itself out- well we need some serious evening out already!!!! Football is a dark ages soport in terms of its relationship with technology. Cricket- Tennis, Rugby they have all embraced technology and become better for it. It needs to happen - it will work against us and work for us but that is irellevant - you cant have big games decided by the ineptitude of officials.
  • Go and score another one or at least create the opportunity to score another one

Don't blame the lino at all we got what we deserved fuck all

Will Jacko pritchard Hollands Stephens yann bwp cort Morrison wiggins Wilson fuller hamer all apologise for their mistakes and shit performance

    No I dont think so

Did you go to the game? We were poor... but we had a goal disallowed, and numorous chances! They had ONE shot on target. Hamer poor for what? He could have nabbed us a point!
