The epitomy of Charlton, punching above his weight through sheer guts and determination, I think in commitment terms only Robbo can compare. And in playing ability terms he is woefully under rated, a wonderful harrier, breaker upper, tackler and a btter distributer of the ball than given credit for. Anyone remember that shocking ball by Holland that should've cost us a goal before the 4th on Saturday? Probably not, it certainly hasn't been mentioned - but if it was Kish he would have been castigated. Some people just have it in for him, that's football fans I guess.
Every single season since we came back up apart from this one: a) Kish has been a regular b) we have not been in serious danger of going down
So give the guy some credit, it is certainly due.
PS I am not saying, or even thinking, that if he had been a regular this season we would have been safe by now, but you are not a regular in the Prem for so many years if you ain't got it
About as far from the bling-bling, baby Bentley culture as it is possible for a footballer to get these days. My only suprise is that Curb's wasn't in for him in teh transfer window - he wasted millions on Quashie when he could have got Kish for peanuts.
Hope he's back & in a CAFC shirt again before long.
Good luck to someone I have enjoyed watching give 110 % to the Charlton cause everytime he pulled a shirt on.To me kish you are and will always be a Charlton Man.

[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]cos you can't state "mid table mediocrity isn't good enough" and "we're a shitty little club and always will be" and remain consistent.
This is fantastic!! I don't think there has ever been so much divided opinion about one player. This is what makes forums like this so fascinating.
Whether we think he was good enough or not is in many ways totally immaterial - the manager(s) thought he was and picked him and not just because there was no alternative. In many many cases, he then did the business. What cannot be disputed is his work ethic or attitude. I can't ever remember seeing the guy give up the cause.
[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]can't believe that this is all the reaction to one of the all time greats leaving, perhaps for ever.
A real gent who played 100% in every game and scored the 4th goal in a great win over a doomed to relegation West Ham.
Mark my words in 10 years people will be moaning about our "overpaid, lazy, don't play for the shirt" players after another early Champions League exit and some one who say "we need players like Kish who gave everything for the club"
Totally agree Henry, absolutely spot on. I also agree with Len and some others. A true unsung hero.
I was one of many who contacted him through a contact of Richard Hunt last season after he had been disgracefully booed, expressing my support for him.
My West Ham mate - Shadow, when he watches our games on TV always remarks on what a hard working player he is. It's a shame that fans from other clubs appreciate him but some from ours don't. Ok it's all about opinions and yes he does make mistakes sometimes, but what his detractors surely cannot deny is his incredible work rate.
I hope he does well for Leed's and that when he comes back and maybe if his time with us is numbered, we get a chance to salute a great servant of our club.
[cite]Posted By: Salad Spinner[/cite]Kish is "set to become the 41st player to turn out for Leeds this term" !
Spooky as yours is the 41st post in this thread.
Following the producers of 23's example I'd say that's enough evidence on which to base a film.
(Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that 9/11/2001 doesn't actually add up to 23. Granted 9+11+2+1 is 23 but surely you either add up the digits (making 14) or add up the numbers (making 2021) surely not just p!ss about until you get the number you want (that said that is what I do for a living)).
Am I just being a sad case? Anyone know a clinic where you
can get treated for addiction to being pedantic?
Oh yeah, Kish. Can't say I'm too concerned that he's gone. Actually thought that he was better than people gave him credit for. Distribution, touch and needless to say effort were all good in my opinion. What really let him down was his positional sense (partly made up for by the fact he could literally play everywhere in the same game!) and concentration lapses. I don't actually think he made more errors than anyone else but the ones he did make tended to be obvious and costly.
Neither.
I think you have been working too hard on your articles Henry.
My "quote" was in the heat of the moment under mitigating circumstances. I was totally and utterly hacked off with yet another piss poor performance from a team that seemed only interested in their summer holidays.
I do not think that we should see constant MTM as acceptable.
Now please explain what your point is.
Mitigating circumstances!!! How many pints is that ;-0 Just tugging your plonker mate and getting you to admit that we're not a "shitty little club" at last.
And MTM is still a tautology
And I rarely spend too long on my articles which is why they are so raw and fresh.
Zero pints. That quote was straight after a match and you know I do not drink at matches.
Mid table mediocirty is not acceptable.
That's Mid table mediocirty, Mid table mediocirty, Mid table mediocirty, Mid table mediocirty, Mid table mediocirty, Mid table mediocirty, Mid table mediocirty, Mid table mediocirty...........
I put it to you that the "comment "was made on the interweb thingy and so not straight after a match but when you had had the opportunity to sit down and have a drink, allegedly.
Facts remain that you said "Charlton are a shitty little club and always will be" and that Mid-table mediocrity (a tautology BTW) should not be the limit of our ambitions and these two statement are incompatible.

Well I was at home and do not drink at home. I have no alcohol in the house. Never had have, it's a family thing.
I STILL do not see you point Henry.
Why are these statements incompatible? You are not very good at explaining yourself are you.
Thank goodness, for your sake, you only play at those two professions mentioned earlier and don't need to earn a living from them.
See you tomorrow.

I refer you to your most infamous quote about our club. And don't say it was a wind-up
BTW mid-table mediocrity is a tautology

Comment Steve - agree 100%
"Hoorah!"
Who says that in this day and age? Were you born in Victorian times Large???
You have made both of those Statement so which is it that you now accept to be wrong?
