I don't understand how we have signed him then if people were saying that the wage budget was maxed out and we would not be signing anyone until Hayes and Clarke were off the books? Anyway, welcome Dorian.
Doubt Dorian is on very much tbh. At this stage I would think he would be relieved to get a club. All to prove and an extended contract the prize. Sounds like decent business on a player that at one point had huge potential and could yet rediscover that. Welcome and good luck Dorian.
CP seems to have a good eye and good advisors. If lack of money says this is the best we can get, then I still trust CP's judgement to get the best from the clearance shelves.
How have other clubs had a much more detailed look at him? He's been on trial with us for a month!
He was at Huddersfield on trial before us and I accept he spent more time on the treatment table than the pitch over the last three years .
At 24 he could reach his earlier potential ,Rhoys Wiggins also had a bad record at the Nigels before joining Bournemouth.
I suspect like Kerkar this is a punt in hope rather than expectation and keeps our squad numbers up. Let's give him a chance surely everyone would agree he is an upgrade on Doherty or Mambo at this level.
I absolutely hate the way people moan about new signings with very little knowledge of their playing ability. Even aside that, they are know playing for your club! Rather than slag them off, go out support them, and give them a chance. If he is rubbish or plays for us as much as Cory Gibbs, fair enough, but let them get their foot in the door before we criticize them.
Nothing against the player but yet another example of our non-existant clout in the transfer market with this dodgy, skint mob in charge...
...God help us.
Bore off - if it were really as bad as you seem to think then why didn't most of our first team ask for a transfer this summer
Eh? Are you mental ill? Wtf has that got to do with anything? Our current first team haven't asked for moves cos they've already got signed/seeled contracts garanteeing their pay for the duration.
The `harm' is that this appears to be our limit at the moment with all the bollox going on in our boardroom at present so if you ain't got the intelligence to see it, well, thats your problem. Wake up and smell the coffee.
Perhaps you could share with us your experience of managing professional teams and coaching football generally?
As always I'll reserve judgement until I've seen him play for us...
I know I'm massively late on this but Dervite is the best centre-half I've ever seen at Southend. In fact the only other defender I can ever remember us having in my 25 years or so of going to Roots Hall with his level of class and ability was probably Chris Powell. I think it'll take him a couple of months to get back used to playing football at a decent standard again after a disappointing couple of years in Spain but when he does you'll have a very talented defender.
Cheers Shrimper. Good to hear. Reading some of the Southend supports comments I am excited by the prospect of this lad, especially as Powelly has bought so many diamonds to the club.
Thanks Shrimper, always nice to hear from someone who's actually seen him play. Chrissy's record with defenders is pretty good so far and it's a position it's always wise to have cover for - just ask Curbs!
Seen him play a couple of times now, once when he was on trial and also watched him earlier in the week, when he turned out for the U21's against QPR who fielded the likes of Ephraim and Faurlin in their side and Dorian gave a very assured performance, he was by far the most impressive player on the pitch. I think he will turn out ot be a good acquisition for the club
Glad he played there and not into a 5 man defence. When we changed to 5 at the back v Birmingham I think it cost us the win. When I saw him coming on I thought 'here we go again' so was glad he went into the middle instead. He didn't really have long enough to make a noticable impact to be honest, but he didn't do anything that made him stand out as bad. He looked more than comfortable on the ball and always kept things simple.

Any chance, Scoham?

Thought he looked a lot like Matt Taylor.
;o)
If he comes in and makes himself first choice we've got a bargain.
