  • Didn't the club 'brag' last season that their physio and medical departments can work wonders. They seemed to have 'managed' many players through the season, including BWP's knees. So with this new chap, perhaps it's time to go to work on him. Anyway, if he makes the 1st team squad, who will buy a big enough team shirt to have his full name on the back. Also, how much does it cost now - £1 a letter?
  • Hope he turns out to be another Yann. Not holding my breath.

Clearly signed to make up the numbers. If we are looking for a 4th choice CB Mambo can fill that roll, so don't understand the additional wages.

Didn't see anything particularly special in him at Bromley. Infact he was consistently beaten in the air.
  • People were really disappointed with Yann signing and Smith signing on the last day, people saying we were scraping the barrel and don't have any money. I'm stocking up on the humble pie i think you guys will eat ;)

Though he did quite well at Bromley, actually won a lot of headers and looked to have good distribution. Difficult to add to assessment from cameo at Gillingham..

  • looked good vs crawley, he complimented taylor well and looks very assured on the ball. hopeful this can be a very good piece of business
  • Like to think we've signed a footballing centreback here, someone capable of bringing the ball out of defence.

It would certainly help produce a passing game, building from the back.
  • Top top top signing
Watch this space ! He will be superb

I think he'll be decent but it's hard to see how he'll make an impact in a year.
With Cort and Morrison the likely starters, and Taylor on the bench, it's going to take an injury for him to even be named as a sub IMO.

Good to have him though. Another clever move by Powell.
  • Nothing against the player but yet another example of our non-existant clout in the transfer market with this dodgy, skint mob in charge...

    ...God help us.

Certainly proves that there is no money left in the club.

How does it prove anything? We signed players on free transfer as well. Not concerned by the lack of signings at all as we brought in a squad last summer that will lead this club over the next few years.

I also wouldn't rule out him finishing the season as first choice alongside Morrison.

Bore off - if it were really as bad as you seem to think then why didn't most of our first team ask for a transfer this summer

We've signed a former French youth international who was absolutely adored by his previous club (Southend) who is by all accounts technically very good, very good with the ball at his feet and very strong. It's only a year so whats the harm?

  • very poor at Crawley
  • Appear Vaussoue is a vacillator

Dorian Dervite-Vaussoue has had a change of heart about the number 19 it seems, he will now wear the number 44 shirt instead (JS) #cafc
  • 3 players battling it out to play alongside Morrison. He will be hungry, looking forward to seeing how he does.
  • Marriott110 - "looked very good v crawley"

northstandsteve - "looked very poor v crawley"

Thats why I love this board.
  • very poor at Crawley

Agree with this, Didnt win very many headers against their centre forward and also seemed to pass the ball straight back to Crawley on a good number of occasions, however this was just one game and the reports on him from the other pre season games seem quite promising so will give him the benefit of the doubt, Welcome Dorian.

If he makes an impact by Christmas he'll be offered an extension and he will not have to be holding down a first team place for that. Cort was here on loan and was signed permanently before he ousted Taylor

Who were the last two players who we signed from Southend and were absolutely quality and both involved in their player of the year before they came on our books......?

    ;-)

He'll be a good back up and may start to push a 1st team place at some point.
  • I agree he was very average/below average at Crawley... but SCP has seen him every day for the last few weeks and decided he's good enough - until I see otherwise in a competitive match I'll go with Powell's judgement over mine.

We may be skint and not able to buy added quality but at the same time I can't see Chris Powell signing utter cack just for the sake of making a signing - so in SCP I trust.

See what you're getting at, but don't forget how good Nicky Bailey turned out to be.
  • He's tall .... He's Lean
    Let's hope he's f**king mean
    Dorian ........ Dorian

To the tune of 'Quartermaster's Stores'

Good to get another signing on board.

this for me. Alonso and Clarke were also gambles that didn't come off, but tbh he made a lot of other gambles that have come off

Which (if you listen to rumours) neither were CP signings...........................

Eh? Are you mental ill? Wtf has that got to do with anything? Our current first team haven't asked for moves cos they've already got signed/seeled contracts garanteeing their pay for the duration.

Whats the harm?? I'll tell ya sunshine, you get what you pay for in this life and this guy is free. He's been touted around a number of clubs who've had a much more detailed look at him than us and they've all decided to swerve it. We're taking a punt in more hope than judgement because he's cheap as fricken chips and is being brought in as a squad filler at best.

The `harm' is that this appears to be our limit at the moment with all the bollox going on in our boardroom at present so if you ain't got the intelligence to see it, well, thats your problem. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Nice one Draizetrain. But why don't you say what you really feel. :-)
  • How have other clubs had a much more detailed look at him? He's been on trial with us for a month!
  • edited August 2012
    Kermorgant was free
    Pritchard was free

But yeah - you're obviously right that you get what you pay for

    Morrison wasn't wanted
    Hamer was ignored at Reading
Oldham fans were delighted we signed Stephens

Maybe, just maybe, Chris Powell is pretty astute with his signings but just because we aren't flush with money doesn't mean we have no clout. There is no harm in signing him and I'm glad we did because, from what I've read, he is a talented player if he stays fit
  • Would be interesting to see what Spurs fans thought of him. I know he didn't really break through there but I would have thought they would be able to give a view on a former academy player.
