  • Cook - 4.5

Cook 4.5? That's odd considering most have said he was the bright spark. Not criticising your score, just wondering why you've given him such a low mark?
Thought cook went missing when it mattered but im in a minority of 2 by the looks of it. Oh well it's all about opinions.

Now that is ridiculous. The man hit the post twice and had one of his better games .

  • All very pedestrian. Seemed like they were still in pre season mode, but a few very encouraging displays.

    Hamer - 6.5
Evina - 7 - Impressed with Evina shame Wiggins is far, far ahead of him
    Taylor - 6
Cort - 7 - Solid at the back and never loses a header
Green - 5.5 - Just all over the place, disappeared a lot and then always seemed to make the wrong choice imo.
    Wagstaff - 6.5
Cook - 7 - Impressed with his performance, this guy will have a lot to give this season. Very composed on the ball
Hollands - 6.5 - Almost back to full fitness, and does his job great. Drifted off in second half probably due to fitness levels I guess
Wilson - 5 - too many mistakes from him tonight
Kerkar - 7.5 - MOM fought all match. Great technique and composure and fantastic distribution. Can see how some didn't rate him at Rangers as his runs do look bizarre with how he runs. Can't wait to see more of him
Smith - 6 - He had a tough game up front on his own. Too much I think for him in the end, but very promising youngster.

Can't see how anyone's marking him anything more than a 4.5, 3.5 maybe a tad brutal but he was extremely poor

Green was one of the few players who tried to get forward and do something, he hit the post twice. To me Kerkar looked like his boots were filled with lead.
    Heyhoo, just an opinion though.

  • Hamer - 7 made some decent stops, and controlled the box. almost had a nightmare though when kicked the ball into the back of either cort or taylor can't remember which one..
Evina - 5.5 seems to have a good amount of pace and worked hard, but needs to improve his crossing and decision making at the back
Taylor - 6 solid, nothing especially poor about his play, couple of positional mistakes but solid overall
Cort - 6.5 again, like Taylor, looked very solid. dominated in the air
Green - 5 seemed very lively early with some nice crosses, but shooting was way off throughout and started to fade away as game went on
Wagstaff - 4.5 not a great game either, got lucky with the goal, and apart from that was very ineffectual (as usual)
Cook - 6.5 - very promising start to the game, some very nice runs and touches, went missing as the game went on, but looks a good find
Hollands - 6.5 - clearly lacking match fitness, but was very solid in the middle of the park, no worries from him
Wilson - 4.5 - seemed to be very much out of his comfort zone, showed a few glimpses of potential, but was often appeared shaky and unsure
Kerkar - 6.5 showed flashes of real class in early portions of the match, nice distribution and touch, bit lightweight but a great addition to the squad and will come in useful this season, especially if Stephens disappoints as he did during most of last season
Smith - 6.5 great in the air, and showed enough to tell me that he could be a very good player for us with more playing time under his belt, get him out on loan until christmas in league one.

Thought Pritchard looked very sharp when he came on as well, hope he gets a significant role in the first team this term.
  • Also, don't understand how some people can rate Wagstaff a 6 or 7 and then Green a 3 or 4?
  • Hamer 6.5
    Evina 5
    Taylor 5
    Cort 6
    Green 5
    Wagstaff 4
    Cook 6

    Wilson 5
    Kerkar 7
    Smith 6
  • I thought Green did alright. As already mentioned, he did hit both posts!

    Evina 5

    Kerkar 6
    Smith 4
  • Hamer 6
Evina 5 Reasonably solid but Wiggins he is not.
    Taylor 6
    Cort 6
Green 4 One decent free kick did not offset a series of comedy throw-ins, and poor corners.
    Wagstaff 6
Cook 5 Good first half but faded
Hollands 6 A good run out following injury
Wilson 4 Missed a penalty, gave away a penalty and a stupid corner: a poor debut.
Kerkar 6 Looked bright but not very effective in the second half
Smith 6 Worked hard and showed some good touches but doesn't scare defenders
  • Hamer 5
Evina 6 probably our best player on the night.
    Taylor 6
    Cort 5
Green 5 most corners poor and did not track back enough to help out Wilson.
    Wagstaff 6
    Cook 6
    Hollands
Wilson 4 seemed to get most decisions wrong, caught out of place a lot.
Kerkar 4 did not look comfortable with the ball
Smith 5 Not his best display

  • Hamer - 6
    Evina 6.5
    Taylor - 6.5

Maybe because Waggy scored from one his shots while Green either blasted over or dragged wide most of his. You've already said that you think Waggy is usually very ineffectual so I think you're marking on which players you like/dislike rather than the performance on the night.

Unfortunately that's often the case IMHO so I'll give the player scores a miss again this season. Sorry LL
  • Was I watching the same game? Kerkar looks way out of his depth! I would rate him -1 if I could. He lost the ball constantly and ran around like a headless chicken. He didn't win one header and went to the floor everyone someone came near him. His first touch sent the ball straight up on two occasions that I can remember. The only bright player from that whole team apart from when the subs were made was cook. Every time he got the ball he made something happen. He will be a first team player soon enough. :)

Kerkar was terrible in the air, but passed well and worked hard. Great corners and free kicks, one Jacksonesque free kick drawing a good save. This was Charlton Reserves and in my book was encouraging, with Wilson the only minor disappointment. Green tackled and worked well as did Waggy. A team of 7's for me.
  • Hamer 7.5 I couldn't see what happened for their goal but exuded confidence and one excellent save
Evina 7 Appears to be learning more defensively to go with speed in attack
Taylor 7.5 Excellent first half especially
    Cort 8 Excellent second half!
Green 7 Worked hard closing down & unlucky with free kick hitting post
Wagstaff 6 Scored & worked hard but long periods without effecting game
Cook 8.5 Tenacious, skillful, and good final ball. Superb pass for goal
Hollands 6 Clearly needed match minutes - though maybe not 120! Better as game worn on though.
Wilson 5 Not good. He's better than that. Got more flustered than I expected
Kerkar 6.5 Superb set pieces & good ability on ball but might need to impose himself more
Smith 4.5 Hate to be harsh on the young man. Good football brain, tried hard but isn't ready yet. A loan might do him good once we get cover in.

Pritchard n/a (on for less than 30 minutes) Excellent cameo. We all know about his energy but he showed real authority and a couple of great pieces of skill. Seemed really to believe he's arrived as a genuine first-teamer now.
Jackson n/a If he's ever going to miss a pen, this was probably the time for it.
Wright Phillips n/a Immediately brought a bit of quality to the attack
