  • Any signings will be very decent cover. Nothing more. IMHO

    Even Messi?

He's alright Messi. No Pritchard though is he
  • You see, RCT this makes no sense.

BD comes on and states that his source says that basically what the famous five were saying (cash flow problems, unpaid bills, Kevin Cash pulled out) was true but things are now looking up.

This is believed immediately as true and seen as a good thing while you dismissed the earlier news (which as I said BD has confirmed as having happened) as "hysteria" "Scaremongering" etc, etc and were quite vociferous in attacking the people telling you that.

But now the news appears to be good it is ok to believe "speculation" and "sources"

You can't have it both ways.

PS not doubting BD or his source at all although a "queue of investors" does not automatically equal actual investment. When it's on the OS and all that.
  • Thanks BD,

So it seems the Famous Five were correct then, at least according to your source. That's a turn up for the book.

Did they say why PV and SK left?

SK because he didn't want to compromise his professional ethics when bills weren't being paid - don't know about PV, forgot to ask.

Maybe the reaction to events here and elsewhere have forced peoples hand a little bit, just maybe.

Ha ha there really are some delusions of grandeur on here.....yep an executive board of business men/ money men are heavily influenced by the inane witterings of a bunch of sad blokes (myself included) on an internet chat room.

I take it all back....if those running the club pay real attention to the waffle on fans forums we are defintiley up shit creek.
Do you think the use of the word 'maybe' springs from delusions of grandeur? The 'statement' issued hard on the heels of Mr Kavanagh resigning suggests that 'maybe' what is out there in our supporting culture has a little bit of effect.

  • Fcuk me, here we go again, overANALysing and navel gazing again. Think i'll give this place a wide berth this afternoon and go for a beer overlookoing Corfe Castle.

Where did I say I believed BD's post?

I'll just give it the same credence and evidence of FACT as any other post written on an internet forum by a complete stranger. (and that's no disrepect to BD or anyone who has posted in the past month of fun and games).

  • BD: if that was true why would he be on gardening leave rather than working his notice?
  • All information (good or bad) is welcome, thanks
  • Fair enough RCT, you didn't say you believed it but you certainly didn't dismiss it in the way that so much else has been.

  • I am just passing on info and have a totally open mind about it all - we could be about to see 1 of the major investors step right into the foreground and take control and push us right on or we could have just lost our only investor with any real money. I tend to think the former and always have but also never take any info received as fact. It's come from a well known Charlton person who i wouldn't say has an agenda. I don't think there was unnecessary scaremongering on here coz i guess at the time it may have looked like we were staring at the abyss but i think we have to all accept that we now have people on the board who may not necessarily play things by the text book but i guess you can't make an omlette without breaking a few eggs. It's certainly more interesting than debating whether Semedo and Racon were better suited to the Premiership than League 1 but i do thinkl that coz of our past, there are plenty on here that always believe the abyss is just around the corner. Charlton FC has far more going for it now than it did 25 - 30 years ago so relax - we aren't going out of business but how quickly we start doing 'the business' in the Championship is probably the issue that currently needs sorting out.
  • Prague Addick : thanks for the additional interesting information as it might speak volumes .An employee is generally put on garden leave while they serve their notice .While paying the employee salary for the notice period the employer is entilted to hold the employee to any employment covenants under threat of injunctive relief and or a claim to damages therefore to compel the employee's observance of them .could be anything eg. not working for a rival or issues of confidentiality .

Have you been up to The Square & Compass at Worth ?

(10 mins from Corfe, turn right out of the village on the way to Swanage, uphill a bit & you're there. Park in the voluntary contributuion car park & cross the road.)

  • Agree BD but as I said I'll believe the story of the new investor/s when it is on the OS.

"There is new investment coming" is right up there with "the cheque is in the post" and "Of course I won't come in your mouth" as all time great lies.

    : - )

BD: if that was true why would he be on gardening leave rather than working his notice?

Would have thought this was exactly the reason he was on gardening leave. Why would he want to continue being in the office if this was the reason. I would expect that his bosses would feel exactly the same way.

Dan - thanks for the update.

Henry !!! Wash your mouth out......!!
  • hope he did fanny
  • For a group of very private investors who have managed to keep their names out of the media etc there seems to be a lot of "sources" who know exactly what is going on. Kerkar from Rangers today a couple of hours after Powell is quoted as saying we are talking to him is a great scoop though!

No offence to anyone by the way, I quite enjoy reading all the rumour and conjecture on here, it is what makes a message board interesting.

Don't be so quick to scoff. Duncan Bannatyne often consults me with regard to investment opportunites. So far only the pornomatic has had the thumbs up.

I like it... I'm in and out and in and out and in.......

You can't have it both ways.

He pretty much said there was a cash flow problem and now there's not. I was one who dismissed the earlier speculation as scaremongering, not because I didn't believe there may have been a cash flow problem but because I didn't see the need to panic about it.

If BD's sources are right then I would have been correct not to panic because it clearly wasn't the end of the world as it has now been sorted.

So you can have it both ways.

Norfolk Addick is now the 'Norfolk One'?

Well Rodney, if you care to pitch up to the Supporters Trust meeting on August 9th i will give you irrefutable evidence that members of the current Board read this forum and react to it ( n.b. that "react" could mean asking rhetorically what the matter is with that bunch of muppets + expletives of your choice).

    Well?
