My Mrs pointed out that when Hastings was in his hotel room after meeting his wife, his laptop was open and the screen looked very much like the screen on which John Corbett spoke to the head of the OCG

Definitely the writers reeling people in with that. Hastings is a red herring, LOD is never that obvious in its characters guilt. I’m still unsure about Stephen Graham’s character, the whole ‘are you with me or not mate’act is hard to gauge.
It could be a double bluff with Hastings but I am in agreement it’s a red herring.

I think there will be plenty of twists with Corbett. I would imagine there’s going to be a scene where his loyalty to the OCG will be put to the test and then Arnett will have to doubt him if he goes through with it.

Personally would love him to be genuine, the show needs more ‘honest coppers’!

I was wondering who the picture that was added was of, who would they have an A4 picture of? Hastings would have to be a red herring, for a start why have an A4 photo ready to slap up on the board?
My guesses, either John the undercover cop, his boss, his ex-comm lady or Neil Morrissey's character.

Have I missed anyone from the show?

I'm still puzzled by the woman in the OCG. She also behaves at times more like an undercover cop as hinted at in episode one.

Don't forget Hastings had his picture taken down early in the episode. I assumed that's the extra one.

Oh yes, but surely too obvious.

Can't believe you're overlooking Kate Fleming.
    She is heavily involved.

Why is operation pear tree being undertaken without AC-12s knowledge unless they suspect Hastings??

Hastings definitely does seem shifty, in the first episode he wrapped everything up and pinned it on Hilton REALLY quickly given its several series they've been investigating for. But I don't think he's the mastermind but I can see him being involved in a secondary capacity.

It's going to be someone new...

Feel that they're making Hastings a bit too obvious, unless the ideas are drying up.

Yes as one of the leading investigators.

Absolutely no chance she is dodgy IMO

Has Stephen Graham ever played a good Samaritan ? Or does he just play baddies.

As his character gave the nod for the police woman to be eliminated, why is there speculation that he may still be a good cop?
He was definitely a reformed character in the last series of This Is England.

Not watched any of the previous series. Thought I would have a go at this one. Jury still out for me. One of the weird scenes last night that I was hoping would be explained here, but hasn’t so far, is when the gangsters hijacked the convoy carrying confiscated weapons. It seemed like about 10 gangsters using military style automatic rifles fired about 200 rounds into the cars carrying the police who were protecting the convoy. When the main character asked how many casualties he was told zero! That, together with the scene where the undercover officer seems to prevent one of the gangsters being shot.....well actually I don’t know what was going on there! But, am I right in assuming that the writer is asking me to believe that the undercover officer replaced all the ammunition that was to be used in all the weapons involved in the hijack with blanks and the gangsters did not realise they were firing blanks? Or am I just completely missing major parts of the plot here?

This was also a mystery to me, however I dont think it was blanks as IIRC I saw the car door skins being ripped apart, you could argue that all the cars were heavily armoured? Also if the live rounds had been replaced by blanks they would have known straight away, as there is a distinct lack of kick firing blanks v Live rounds. Also most of the weapons would have had to have a blank adapter fitted.

    ????????

I thought that the fact that we saw massive holes exploding all over the cars suggested that the director was making the specific point that the cars were not bullet proof. But that also means they weren’t firing blanks! Which means I am writing rubbish here and need to stop and rewatch the scene.

I thought Gill the dodgy lawyer had to resign in disgrace before so why would she be allowed to do a similar job?

Anyway my favourite tv show bar none, it’s brilliant.

On a separate note, Polly Walker still does it for me.

Some of it is becoming a bit far fetched. So the four cars escorting were all bullet proof with armed police officers, but the van the guns were in looked like it was hired from Enterprise and driven by a civilian?

Can't wait for next week though!

Pretty sure there were casualties, I thought the report/update on the news in episode one said three dead and one (the lady cop who ordered them to go back) was critical (but presumably still alive... For now.)

I'm pretty sure that there is more to that scene than just the drug hijack but don't know what that is. Like there is a specific reason or agenda beyond just the drugs.

Was recommended this program by a mate. Downloaded and watched it on Catch up last week the 1st episode and saw tonight's. So many twists and turns.
You need to watch it from the first series to fully understand what’s happening in this one

They're talking about the gun heist in last nights episode.

I took it that Stephen Grahams character gave the order to shoot low on the vehicles and pop the tyres (as he didn't want innocent coppers being killed) and he stepped in on the other bloke shooting the copper for the same reasons. This has raised suspicions with one of the crew members, who's now been nicked himself and is out the way for the time being.

If Ted, Steve or Kate are bent coppers it would be like when I found out Santa and the tooth fairy were fake news, gutted.

How Ted Hastings turned down Polly Walkers characters offer in the last series shows  he's a better man than me ? ( I only ever give in to temptation)

Superb drama even if it's not subtle.

I need to watch all of them. When did the series start 2012?? Shame they are not available on download?

This is exactly what I thought, too.
