i remember when robbo was on week-to-week wages. he literally left every bit of sweat, blood, and heart on the pitch after every appearance thinking it was his last...
Legend .. he defines grit and determination and using every last gram's worth of talent .. my main memory apart from his consistent excellence was of him winding up Peter Beagrie (then playing for Bradford under Kamara) so much that Beagrie gave Robinson a mighty slap and was sent off .. soooooo funny

Haha, did you have the same English teacher as Jamie Redknapp ?
The interesting thing is if we applied to JR the instant success requirements we have for players now, he would have been booed out of the club, it took him quite a while to settle in and establish himself in the first team. Most of the time these instant judgements that some of our fans make are way wide of the mark and Robbo proves that.
Very good point. He took a good couple of seasons to establish himself and to find some consistently good form. These days he wouldn't have been given that time and would have been a target of the boo boys within six months. Don't think this is just a Charlton thing though-more the way football has changed (for the worse) in general

Johnny Johnny Robinson
Johnny Johnny Robinson.
When he scored 'that' equaliser against United I swear the Covered End shook....it was frigging incredible!
I guess that's where his sheer determination came into play.
