My all time favorite charlton player. Does anyone know what he did after he retired or what he is doing now.

Set up soccer schools in The States.
Used to live in the Brighton area but now lives somewhere in The Eastern States of America.
  • Best of luck to him. What heart that man had/has. Probably one of the best deals I can remember for the club, bearing in mind what he gave to us over the many years he played. A Charlton hero!
  • Gave all every game.
  • One of the players that gave me some of my most enjoyable times being an Addick.
  • Charlton legend.

Always had a fiery edge to him, which I liked.
  • Legend no doubt
  • I loved his non stop attitude , great memories.

A big fan of JR. Saw him have many great games and quite a few stinkers too, but one thing I never saw fron him was a half-hearted performance.

  • The interesting thing is if we applied to JR the instant success requirements we have for players now, he would have been booed out of the club, it took him quite a while to settle in and establish himself in the first team. Most of the time these instant judgements that some of our fans make are way wide of the mark and Robbo proves that.
  • Would've run over glass barefooted for our club. Loved the bloke for all he did for us.
  • My fav player too. 110% every game
  • Greatest memory was the Man Utd equaliser, his facial expression said it all
  • Loved Robbo. Felt for him when he only made the bench for the playoff final.

He had been injured for the run in though

Would've much rather Robbo come on for Heany than the other way round.

  • One of my favourite players of all time, as a Charlton fan.
Could be frustrating at times, but I used to love watching the bloke play.
I remember going to an away match at Villa, I think it was the first time we went up and he was subbed.
45 minutes afterwards he was still complaining about it, before he got on the coach at villa with Peacock, when I looked out of the window looking down into the back of villa as Charlton boarded the team coach. Poor old Keith had to calm him down, to get him on the coach, as John was throwing his arms around.
Perhaps he wanted to sit next to the window for all I know?.
  • Does anyone remover when the ball got kicked into the hedged bank inbetween the north and east stands (where the be quadrant is today) against Portsmouth and Robbo clambered all the way up there to retrieve it ? I was the ball bay covering that part of the ground that day who failed abjectly at his task ! Great player and time and again showed his commitment to Charlton
  • Who was it he gave a lift to, all the way back to east sussex once, saw a Charlton fan broken down on shooters hill road if memory serves me right?

    Just looked at his website,

In his profile there is a picture of him skinning Lee Dixon at the Library.

    But "Soccer" ......ewwwww
  • Just a pity that he has a reputation of accepting offers to appear at various supporters meetings as a guest/speaker and then doesn't turn up....done it more than once I'm afraid to say.
Love him to bits though and remains one of my all time favourites.
  • Ah you just beat me to it Soundas... was going to say, dont ask him to speak at meetings, he let me down twice.
  • Robbo was my favourite player when I started going to Charlton. With him and Morts, I thought we were the most skillful team on the planet. He didn't quite have enough for the Prem, but in the Champ, he was awesome.
  • Ah you just beat me to it Soundas... was going to say, dont ask him to speak at meetings, he let me down twice.
Did he let you know or simply not appear?

He played every week for a side that finished top ten in the Prem!?

One of each if I remember........ but Curb_It will no doubt confirm.

  • That goal at The Valley when we drew 3-3 with Wimbledon to beat them 8-7 on aggregate. Awesome. I was right behind the goal. One of the best moments at The Valley ever.
  • Always remember getting frustrated with him at times because of the 'perfect goal' he was trying to score...chest knee volley...he did that sooo many times and didnt get that goal.
Great Game against Birmingham away live on itv Charlton won 4-3 1995-6 season
Love the fact that his name is in history for scoring CHARLTONS first ever Premiership goal. That is legend status on its own.

Oh no he would always let me know on the day, first one via Steve Brown calling to say it was just him as Robinson couldnt make it, i cant remember the second time. Think a message was left via Bernard.
