I disagree Large. One of the reasons why our young pros didn't get a chance is L1 was because there were only 5 seats available on the bench. Now there are 7, more players will be able to get a chance.
I think this is the big season for Mambo - he needs to step up and to be honest, whilst it is no certainty, I do believe he can. He was excellent against Reading and he does seem to have the physical attributes of a good centre half. We let go of Shittu too early and the coaches must see the potential in him and they will know much more about his capabilities than any of us.
Agree with those who think Mambo has got something to offer - the question is, when will he be ready?
He played very well against a strong Reading side in our League Cup victory last season. Most centre backs perform best in the right pairing.
But as a 20 year old, it's the time to make his mark - and if he thinks he'll be loaned out to a League one side, then that's what he's been told.
The management obviously see that he's a work in progress.
I imagine he's not earning much above a 1st year pro contract, so he's not costing the club big dollars.
Even if he doesn't figure regularly in our present 1st team, he no doubt fits the category of development player to be sold on for profit later.
I agree with this the value of the Academy to us is not just the Jenkinson's and Shelvey's who earn big fees but also the sorts of likes of Campbell-Ryce and Weston who could potentially attract modest transfer fees which could match the cost of their development and have good careers in the lower leagues .
I'd like to see either of these two go somewhere like Orient ,Gillingham ,Barnet , Wimbledon or Dagenham all of whom could provide a decent developmental opportunity for them as in the case of Mambo he has only done BSP so far and I'd like to see Bover play in the English lower league .
It may be worth only allowing these until Xmas so that we could call them back in the second half of the season .
Not sure how we can sell Mambo for a decent fee while he's only on 1 year deals.
Have said for a while I doubt he'll make it with us, but he might work his way back up the leagues. He's 20 coming up 21, as said he does need to step up soon.
Think Mambo will be our Gus Caesar, stays with us for years and gets wheeled out for a couple of games a season when the four other centre halves aren't available.

No but she is most definitely 'Bovered'

Apparently we play at Bloomfield Road.
