I reckon the appointment of Nathan Jones has given Mambo another lifeline. Pleased for Bover too. I think he is a Charlton star in the making. His skill is second to none. The only downfall is the physicality but League 1 is definitely more physical than the CCC so he could have a part to play next season.
seen him play enough for youth/reserves. Been on loan to many lower league teams and sometimes not even got in there sides and hasn't pulled up any trees. In my opinion not good enough, won't make it. Hope he proves me wrong but won't hold my breath.
good on mambo. saw him at the fleet and though he's a bit slow he reads the game pretty well. worked well with the experienced Lorraine at centre back. like large said, he probably needs to go on loan at a league 1 club to get up to speed.
You are my bover My Ruben bover You make me happy, when sky's are grey We think your better, than iniesta Please dont take my bover away Lalalalala ooohh
Slightly surprised about Mambo, doing well in non league is hardly a sign of someone who could do a job 3 leagues higher. Maybe he's lucky, and we don't have any other CBs coming through the youth ranks.
I'm encouraged by this - for if we were desperately cutting costs these two would probably have been cut. Thus far they are not ready for the CCC or even L1 from my limited exposure - but how many of us have seen either of them play since the Preston game?
Paul Hart and SCP would not be keeping them on out of sentiment (ask Conor Gough), let's give these boys a chance if we can afford it

As per my comment, Gough was let go because we had an alternative young keeper who was even better, whereas maybe we have no better young CBs?
Bover looks a promising player, probably an easy decision for powell.
Mambo on the other hand, has failed to live up to hype somewhat so far. However he's a big lad, perfect build for a CB, he's one of them that if you get rid you have the feeling you might regret it.
I'm pleased about Bover and I reckon he could become our next big thing (in this thread I started last year: http://forum.charltonlife.com/discussion/42088/ruben-bover/p1) so its great news he's signed on for another year. As for Mambo I don't think he'll make it with us unfortunately from what I've seen of him which admittedly isn't much but who knows?

Yes exactly, get him out on loan, so net cost not enormous, you never know....

We clearly have other midfield options beyond Bover, but the mgmt sees promise. That's good enough for me.
Mambo isn't the next Sol Campbell, but I think he's got the basic attributes to be a good centre half, and with more training he can progress as a player. Physically he is a proper unit, and has played right back as well as centre back, so he can play a bit as well. I think his major problem will be mental, making the right decision under pressure and things like that, but that's a problem with most young players, so I don't think it's too big a problem. Here's hoping he continues to improve and shows his doubers and haters wrong

Good luck to them both
Powell either sees something in him or he's gonna be first choice when we sell Morrison and Cort : - )

Mambo number 5? After all, Morrison is about to get sold because we are completely skint at the moment. ;-)
He also very much in love LOL. His facebook is interesting for pictures
Also didn't realise he was out of contract, would've been a shame to lose him.
