First off, have to say I love fixtures day, so begin the hopes for another season. Better this this time around obviously because of the more illustrious company we're keeping. Three tough games to start against opposition who should be challenging for top six but will maybe give us some idea of where we're realistically pitching ourselves. Would like to think the adrenaline of promotion would see us start well so would like to take five points what with two home games but would happily take three draws. Quite happy that we're at Elland Road midweek as it's only down the road for me and I love games under the floodlights so winner! Never been to Cardiff though so a bit disappointed that's midweek. I hate Blackpool so won't be bothering with a cold October weekend there though I've already asked my missus if she fancies Easter in Brighton A trip to Hillsborough three days before Christmas is a doer even if it does take the last of my shekels and as Bolton away falls on my birthday I may ask for a ticket as a present. My daughter is at Hull Uni so I'm sorted for that game. And praise be to the lord that we're away at Barnsley in April as I have bad memories of standing on the old Oakwell away end with no roof in the middle of winter. Will be pricing up the cost of train travel as soon as realistic for the Millwall and Palace games home and away cos well, it has to be done doesn't it? Bit excited already tbh so roll on August 18th.
Difficult start especially at home but will be a good test and maybe a good indicator of where we'll be competing in the league.
No moans about the fixtures from me, it's the luck of the draw and we've done ok especially having two home games 26/29 December and a nice away trip NY Day.
I have a daughter in the Birmingham area so would consider this but for the fact that Birmingham has the reputation of the Millwall of the Midlands.
Not a family fixture. Shame really.
Bit of a disservice to the Brum fans there i think. You'll have low lifes at every football club, but for the first fixture of the season, against a club with whom they is no sort of history, the chances of anything happening are almost zero.
Your loss mate, shame we're losing support because fans seem scared to goal to a football match in 2012.

Hmmmm. " No sort of history".....
I must have dreamt being on a coach that was stoned by "well wishing " Brum fans some years back. Think Airman may remember this one.
I'm going but when we played them in the Prem the year after we sent down Palace (think Darren Bent scored) I had a 'Bluenose' come up to me with his 9 year old son and say: "Hey boy, look at this cockney c*nt - shall we smash his face in?".
Probably an isolated incident but I was just walking back to the station with a mate. That kid has probably grown up to be a right dick.

You've obviously never been then. They're ***** of the highest degree. We've had to fight them off our coach before.
Went there with West Ham two seasons back for a night fixture in the Carling Cup Semi's. That was a game which you would suspect as one where trouble could emerge, but I can't say i witnessed anything outrageous. A massive police escort and lots of mouthing off between fans, but nothing which you wouldn't get had we'd just gone within a goal from going to Wembley.
I guess people have different views on what they see as trouble, but fans will be going there in the their thousands from all different clubs across the country, many of whom see no issues with going to Birmingham, and rightly so.
And no, i don't have any kids. Not that i worry about going to football matches, but if i did then the only person i would have to be concerned about would be myself.

I said not a family fixture.
I'm the sort of despicable fan who attends matches with family (often female) members.
Not really welcome at away matches by "the ultras" I realise....
I may yet choose to just come on my own, I'll decide nearer the time.
in the mirror sport fixtures pull out their are prediction from the 'experts' : darren lewis claims charlton will win the championship, most other pundits claim bolton, with some opting for brighton, burnley, blackpool, leicester and cardiff! however i think his prediction lacks the most credibility as he also predicts QPR for the league cup, and sheffield WEDNESDAY for league 1! haha
I've only just seen the fixture list and just my luck we have Palarse at home on my wedding day!!!! Misses just stared at me when I told her. Don't think I'll be going!

You have 3 months to find a more understanding bride, good luck.
Since these fixtures were released I have to say my interest in the Euros has waned massively, can't wait for that first game now.
We might not have proper history with Birmingham, but they are a club who are famed (like several in the Midlands) for not being picky about who they have a pop at.
I have some good blues mates through England, but its definitley in the top 3rd of 'watch your back' trips in this league and my Blues mates would not disagree.
Luckily there is nothing on the game, unlike my first trip there is 98!!

I'm glad I chose to get married the week before during the international break!
been to Brum many times. Along with Molineaux one of my least favourite away grounds and has experienced trouble more than once incl bricks through coach windows. Very unsavoury bunch.

It doesn't happen often, but I agree with Large who is correct.
