For me it's not so much the time and money (although when the who day starts to cost close to £100 I do think that there might be more more pressing demands on the money, to be honest) the issue is that I football on 18 Saturdays this season. My wife knows that I love football, and she doesn't complain about me going to home games, and a couple of away games (I went to four this season) she has a point when she says that it might be nice if I spent time with her and our son.
I can understand why single guys (and girls) without children would go to many (maybe even all) away games, but for those of us with families it is just not fair to go out for most of the day almost every Saturday between August and May.
I have it from a very reliable, high up source at CAFC that we need Udders to win, Sheff Utd in dire financial straits and if they dont go up there will be quite a few leaving and we have bids already on the table , waiting to be signed for two Blades players at bargain prices.....Come on Udders!!!!
Let the fire sale begin.....Quinn & Maguire? Any other thoughts?
According to the Independent Huddersfield are having an open top bus parade today. It's ironic that the teams that didn't win the league have celebrated so wildly. Is it because our sights are set much higher than simply escaping League 1?

This is a fair point. But why not take your lad along with you (if he's not too young)? I introduced both my sons to Charlton from an early age and my wife was perfectly happy to see us go off together for the day while she did her own thing. In fact it was a bit of a triple whammy - football, father/son bonding and avoiding those Saturday shopping trips.

Or that they live in town's or cities with only one or two major teams hence a bigger fan base in the surrounding vicinity of the stadium

Can recall us having an open top bus through Woolwich for coming 4th back in 98. Nothing wrong with it as it allows those who couldn't make the game to join in with the celebrations.................

I think it's a bit different getting promoted to the PL, as the PL is THE promised land! It's not as if Huddersfield (and Wednesday) are footballing minnows for which getting to the Championship would a massive shock and achievement (e.g. Stevenage or Hartlepool)
It is true that it is hard to go to away games when you have a family. You take them - which is expensive or you go alone which puts you in the doghouse.

But after continous failed attempts, you can understand their euphoria. Besides, I wouldn't really class Hudds as a big club, certainly not over the last few decades and the championship is realistically their pinnacle, barring a miracle........................
