So true. Disgusting when a country's national anthem isn't respected. You never hear that at Wembley when England are playing another country. Oh... wait....
England weren't playing another country though, it was two ENGLISH Premier League sides.
Love Liverpool the city just don't care for a lot of their fans .
Oh and as for it being no different to England fans booing other national anthems what a load of crap. Both Liverpool and Chelsea play in the English premier league.
I don't like two things about the anthem , I don't want to pledge allegiance to the queen and anyway it's the British national anthem not the english one
Met a Scouser in a bar out here the other week. He said that he was from Liverpool and NOT England, he said that he loves to see the national side get trounced, he also said he hates seeing Liverpool players in an England top. He was pissed, but he insisted he was not on a wind-up...... The conversation obviously took a bit of a turn for the worst after that and we went our seperate ways!
Never really had an opinion on Liverpool as a place, as a team or the people before that conversation and then what happened on Saturday, I do now though, I don't really like them....
I like the National Anthem as it is, but I am a Royalist.
I think that is a common theme amongst "big" clubs, am sure that Man U fans have said it and I recall G Neville endorsing it too.
Liverpool were Marmite in the 70's & 80's, I was one that liked them and dalglish was a hero of mine. However, he and the club have fallen so far in the last couple of years. Dalglish's surly approach was acceptable when they were a top club but they aren't, 7th in the league at best, not good enough to be a media diva kenny, I don't think it will take a lot for the Yanks to turf him out next season ... if his name was Roy it would be now.

So what? It's OK for England to boo another country's anthem, but booing your own is wrong? Booing anyone's national anthem (if you're the sort of person who believes in the jingoistic tradition of 'national anthems' at all) is disrespectful. At least if you boo your own country's anthem you could be said to be making a political statement (although in this case it was clearly just scallys being stupid) - if you boo another country's anthem, it's just sheer feeble-minded ignorance.

What do you mean so what? I'm not condoning the booing of anyone’s national anthem, I'm just pointing out that your comparison is wrong!

Ooops! Furry muff - I read that wrong )
It's a legitimate point, but personally, I don't see any difference. Almost without exception, anthems are sad remnants of colonial pasts - I don't see any real difference between booing your own anthem and anyone else's. Like I said, at least if you boo your own anthem you could be said to be making some kind of a protest statement - rather than just childishly goading Johnny Foreigner.

The way I look at it is that if you boo anyones national anthem, you're gonna offend someone. Makes no difference if it's your own or not.
Leroy - I've been to a fair few England games, home and away. To say we boo every Countries national anthem is laughable. It has happened - yes in certain situations and against certain countries, but I've heard GSTQ booed more at Eng games by 'away' supporters than visa versa.
Why worry? Liverpool are now the joke Club of the PL. Reappointing King Kenny was a joke and he has spunked so much money up the wall it is unbelievable. Good job the PL isn't played over the last 18 games otherwise they'd be going down. Replacing Dalgleish is the only way forward for them, if he loved them that much he'd resign. They are as far away from winning the PL as Palace are of a Championship top ten finish. I am looking forward to both struggling again next season.
They do quite regularly put up banners saying we are scouse not english so can't say I'm surprised. Anyone have any idea where this anti England stuff comes from? I know they have a large proportion of Irish and welsh fans but it seems like its the true Liverpudlians who have a deep down hatred of anything English
Some of the comments on here are so ridiculous they are laughable. Someone said Stevie G not signing the national anthem while in a Liverpool shirt is disgraceaful. Let's get it right, he does when playing for England. I wonder how many Charlton players sang it when we were at Wembley. It is a CLUB occasion when the fields of anfield road or valley flloyd road are what stirs the blood not the national anthem. Also as I understand it (and obviously wasn't there as i was enoying the antics of a fenchman (and dreaming of a team of them) and certainly not thinking of England) the LFC fans were singing their own songs and not booing. Certainly not jeering during a minutes silence like some shitbag fans. Finally it just a well scoucers do not count as a race because there would be a lot of you lot who would be locked up for racist comments. I'm generally proud of ChARLTON supporters but sometimes .......................
Locked up for racist comments? Yeah okay. So Charlton supporters who are proud to be English and defend the rights of others to sing our national anthem makes you what?
Let’s get one thing straight, leaving Liverpool aside for a minute, there are some decent English people, who enjoy singing the national anthem (as it is), who respect and enjoy having a Royal Family and who DO NOT boo other Nations national anthems. If/when CAFC get to a game where our notational anthem is played, I would hope that the 'antis' among us have the decency to either sing along or belt up.
I just can't see how booing and whistling through our national anthem is okay, because less than 1% of us interupted a minutes silence

I think there are a lot of problems in this country that make people feel it acceptable to boo/whistle during the national anthem. Me personally don't really care about the national anthem, couldn't care about the national team doing well but think we should keep the royal family everyone is different in there views and opinions.

Tribalism, don't you just love it. We don't have to look much further than a few miles away for people we apparently hate.
I love our history our monarchy and all that goes with it
As is your right. The problem with the national anthem is that is it divisive. You don't express loyalty to your country, you express if to the queen - a political institution. And you do so in the name of god, something which a large proportion of the population do not believe in. I wouldn't boo it, but I don't respect it and I would very much like to have a national anthem I could partake in.

BTW - Dalglish is and always has been a c***.

So any scousers that want to boo the national anthem are scouse c**nts and any chelsea mugs that boo the mins silence are chelsea c**nts
The bin dippers are a breed of freaks who believe the whole country is against them
And do you know what they are right after suarez and dalglish and now this they can be scouse before English
Because they are an embarrassment to a proud English nation
I love our history our monarchy and all that goes with it
Anyone who wishes to tarnish it do it away from me because I wing just stand idle and let you be disrespectful
1. God Save the Queen
2. God Save the Queen - Sex Pistols
3. English Rose - The Jam
4. Jerusalem
5. The Birdie Song
As their message boards show which have been linked on Twitter etc, they are scouse, not English or British, hence it's not their national anthem.
Fair do's, let Liverpool have their independence and let them get on with their own lives.
