not really, he is a very good striker and has done incredibly well at SUFC, knowing this country he will be out for the begining of next season.
This has to be a wind up
Hey i think the bloke is a good striker, Shot me in the head for having that opnion. I thought Rio was a good defender even tho he failed a drug test. I think Suarez is a really good striker even tho he made rascist comments.
Yeah let's put Rape, second only to murder, in the same bracket. The PFA should have pulled him from the awards. And just for the record, players failing drug tests and proven racists should be left out of these things as well.

and Rhodes should be pulled out of there for opting to be scottish. ;-)

Errr just to clarify a point about Rio Ferdinand, he failed to actually take a drugs test not fail the test itself. They charged him anyway and he got 8 months ban plus £10k fine but technically he never failed the test.
Anyway, back to attacking Woody...;P
I think it's a general/unwritten rule in civilised societies to not go giving awards, any awards, to convicted rapists yeah....
...doesn't set a very good example to kids that kinda stuff.
It's quite difficult when the players voted before the court case. They could have removed him from the whole ceremony but they would have had to explain it as the votes cast are surely published at some point.
Ignoring how terrible the crime might have been and how girl in question might have suffered, the players voted based on performance on the field and by the time the votes had been counted the player was in a position where the authorities might have chosen to exclude him. It's nothing more than a set of unfavourable circumstances.
Based purely on his football this season he, probably, deserves to be in the side. When the votes were cast he was still innocent of any crime.
Sadly the chap now deserves no recognition, but he was probably the second best forward in the division last season.

Erm I wonder why he never turned up? As for the Evans thing I think he is a good player. In no way would I agree or accept what he has done. PFA people can't be that bothered about it otherwise they would have thought maybe we should step in and change that, but they didn't. Wether you like it or not the rapist is in the team!

you are either a WUM or a not very nice human being. I'll go for the latter.
Think there has been too much supposition on this thread. Unless you sat on the jury and listened to every piece of evidence, received the judges summing up and then participated in the jury discussions you cannot form any view of the verdicts given.
I dont know enough about the case to form any kind of verdict. But imagine - just IF - he wasn't guilty. As with any crime when it is one persons word versus the other, you may never know.
Since I was on jury service, I always wonder. We found someone guilty, and I will never forget that he broke down in tears, looked at us (not in an angry way) and simply said "I swear on my sons life I never did it".
Hopefully our justice system means that these cases are far less than people getting what they deserve, but I can think of very few things worse in life than going to prison when you know you didnt do what you were convicted of.

probably never even had a son. Works the other way too. We convicted a guy of raping a 15 yr old schoolboy. Initial jury vote was 10-2 that he was not guilty. After 5 hours deliberation we convicted him on an 11-1 verdict. As the verdict was read out he smirked and it was confirmation he was guilty. Those 10 who originally thought him not guilty were so relieved.

Full time WUM mate, on a serious note I doubt he will serve the full 5 years. As with most convicts get released early on good behaviour, maybe Sheffield united will do a deal with the prison to get him relased every Saturday so he can play as long as he is back before lights out, just a thought.

Are you f***ing serious? I think you need to stop posting before you get yourself banned.
I bet this has sent shivers up the spine of many footballers. Knobbing a few groupies to pass the time whilst confined to a hotel on away matches used to be an accepted pastime, presume it still is, or was until the Evans case. We hear more stories these days of their encounters with prostitutes, perhaps there is just too much risk of their judgement being impaired when involved with casual encounters. Wonder if clubs will think it's worth providing players with free professional entertainment under their contracts?
Look woodsy, everyone on here will agree that yes ched evans is one of the best strikers in this division BUT we will all also agree that is is completely unacceptable to give him an award that in effect glorifies a rapist. People like you saying he deserves to be given recognition for his football nomatter what he has done are just showing a massive lack of respect for the girl whos life is ruined due to this piece of scum.

Alright lad fair point, I would like to point out if you read my earlier comments you would see I don't agree with what he done, but as always it easier to jump on the bandwagon

I know but as I have said you beleive he should be given that award, an award that glorifies a rapist. Now lets move on.

When he was sentenced it was stated he would serve 2.5 years of the 5 year sentence so no need to spend time doubting whether he will or not.

Rape is a heinous crime.
Think we can all agree on that.
And on that note, I bid you a goodnight.

Could it not have been an ironic smirk at the injustice of the world?
Sometimes Large, your world is a little too simple.
