Promotion party on Monday?

  • Id rather get promoted away atleast Tom Hark wont spoil the moment.
  • It's is possible that Huddersfield will slip up tonight and then win on Saturday. However, I can't see us winning the two Easter games. I would think that a win and a draw from those two would be a decent result. The 6/8 point lead is great but it only needs to be one point by the end of the season, so I would have thought carrying on picking up two points per game will be enough to win the division, but will certainly get us promoted.
  • Forget all this, give me 4 points from out next 2 games and it'll be enough to get us the title i reckon.

I don't really mind when we officially go up (would prefer at home though!)
  • win one, lose one keeps us on track
  • The way I'm looking at it, we need four of Charlton/Wednesday's collective results (and three of Huddersfield's) to go our way to achieve promotion.

That way, a draw at the Galpharm is perfect. It leaves it completely in our own hands to pick up the three wins meaning we could do it up at Carlisle.
  • I see no reason why we can't win all our remaining games. We're top for a reason
  • /\/\ cos were Charlton thats not how we do things (the easy way)
  • Of those four scenarios, I would say that three of them look reasonably likely. The only one I don't think will happen is Wednesday failing to beat Oldham at home.

Then again, if they get beat two days earlier by Huddersfield then you never know what effect it might have.

I can't help but try and calculate all different scenarios and possibilities but I have found that taking it one game at a time seems to be the only logical thing to do.

I do hope that we take a load of people up to Carlisle though. Fans saying "Oh it's a long way blah blah blah" = embarassing. Get behind your club, these moments come very few and far between and you would only regret not going.

lovely tom, you wanna pay the £130 train or entertain me on the coach for 16 hours?

  • We keep winning, and there is nothing they can do about us being promoted, and then being champions.

  • The way we having been playing recently I don't see us winning the next 2 - maybe a draw or defeat away but a win at home............meaning we go to Carlisle with it still possible. If no win there we can do it on our own patch the week later.

whatever happens I still think it will be done & dusted before Preston.

    Ole ole ole ole ,
    Going up , up up

Ok maybe I overstated it a little bit. I understand the train is pricey, but a coach journey to see our team clinch a historic prize which we have been waiting YEARS for surely is reasonable.

I know it's a long way but then again we've been waiting a long bloody time for this and on such a day, the players need every ounce of support we've got to give. Afterall, they've done pretty much everything we have asked of them up until now.

'The way we have been playing recently'? Sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree. We played well against Yeovil and Orient. OK, it wasn't Barcelona, but the players went out to do a job and did it effectively.

After 3 years in this league I've come to realise that you don't win games in League 1 by playing like Brazil (although it would help!) You win games by being prepared to do what's necessary to grind out a result.

Having said that, I think Oldham will make it difficult. I think we have the potential to take 6 points, but I'd be more than happy with 4.

its League One promotion and we've been waiting 3 years lol

A lot of people will save themselves for Preston, where we will clinch the title. Thats what im doing.
  • It might be only League One promotion, but 3 years of underachieving and being taunted by pretty much every Football fan I know is a long time. Twelve years since the last promotion day, it's a very big deal.

I, for one, hope we do it at The Valley. That would be truly special, and we might actually come close to selling it out.
  • I want 100 points and the title and can see no reason why we won't achieve both
  • We keep winning, and there is nothing they can do about us being promoted, and then being champions.

Exactly. One game at a time, 3 points.

If we get the 3 points at Oldham, only then do we move on to the next game.
And CP has done exactly that all season.

Count your chickens if you must. Or create your mountains out of molehills.

But if we put the points on the board, one game at a time, it doesn't matter a toss what the others do.
  • Meh, you miserable gits. This is still a very good league 1 side, who are so close to finishing off the job. They showed on Saturday that they can do it, so just leave em be, and the 13 points to be Champions will be secured (it won't take 13 points anyway)

  • The only pressure we are under is whether we are promoted as champions or runners- up. The real pressure is on those immediately below us
  • ...who realise that only one of them will get automatic promotion whilst the rest will be consigned to that cluster-fu*k known as the play-offs which will intensify with every game.
We simply have to hold our nerve which I fully expect us to do.
  • Hope we manage it against Walsall - I'll be there for my only game of the season, and taking my daughters to their first ever game. Unfortunately I think we won't quite get over the line that soon.
  • Does anyone know if Boyeson is the referee for Huddersfield v Sheffield Wednesday ?
If so that would make complete sense as being from Yorkshire he might want both teams to pick up points in the "Yorkshire only teams for promotion " approach that he apparently brings to his job (evidence -dubious penalty in last ten minutes awarded to Sheffield utd against Hartlepool and his abysmal performance and attitude towards tackles/assaults made on us in our game against Huddersfield ).Also a draw would be of great convenience to us so he could thereby make amends. The FA ,however , must surely have wised up to his incompetence by now , so knowing our luck he will instead be put in charge of an under 10s' inter-counties game at somewhere like Bridlington or Guiseley or Horsforth, the outcome of which could also ,of course, be a foregone conclusion!
  • No he is doing a Championship game Peterborough V Notts Forest
  • Carlisle is Charlton's promotion winning home so will probably be there!
  • its a long shot. i'm seeing it as an accumulator. the first game tonight hopefully still going monday afternoon. the winnings are so much more than money.

    Love this quote!
  • If my aunty had a cock she'd be my uncle
  • I've worked out that on the form of the last 40 games we could go up as champions. You read it here first.
