  • Wednesday have quite a tough run-in compared to us and Sheff Utd so after the three points yesterday I think we should be pretty much safe for promotion. 7 more points from 6 games should be fine.
  • With our goal difference we are effectively 3 wins clear of Sheff Wednesday with 6 games to go! Yesterday was an important result as the games ticking off strengthen our position greatly.
  • Sheff Weds can't really afford to drop any points.

So they will need to target 6 wins out of 6.
    Can they do it?

    C'MON UDDERS!
  • We will win at Huddersfield next week hopefully, think you have clinched it more or less now, it's between us and United for second, on paper we do look like we have a tough run in but it's the struggling sides that worry me.
  • You still here, Piggy.....?

Would be lovely to go into Monday's game against Walsall with the possibility of securing promotion.

    Can that happen?

your game against huddersfield has got draw written all over it.

    happy days.

If Wednesday get 2 points from their next 2 games (Huddersfield A and Oldham H) they can get a maximum of 79 points by the end of Easter Monday with a vastly inferior goal difference

If we were to win Oldham A and Walsall H we would have 91 points with at least a GD of +43 (i.e. a 12 point gap from Wednesday). If they got less than 2 points then we would definitely be up.

For this to work, Huddersfield would also have to draw at least one of their games - Orient A, Shef W H, Bournemouth A.

Therefore with four games to go, we could mathematically be promoted on Monday.
  • I'm on holiday for Walsall. Two back to back defeats for Weds and Two wins for us are nailed on.
  • Carlisle looks more likely, we beat them while Wednesday drop points at Colchester.

  • All Wednesday need to do is drop a single point and its all up to us
  • Wednesday can't drop a single point - only in 2s and 3s.

    ;o)

With respect, it doesn't really matter what Barca Wednesday do, does it- it's all in our own hands anyway.
  • Seriously, I had a dream last night that we'd actually blown it on the last day of the season by drawing with Hartlepool. Woke up with the right hump and took 10 mins before I realised that it was all a crappy dream.....................never felt so relieved.
  • I had a similar dream the other night,Jeff Stelling going mad that Hartlepool had turned us over, then the dream changed to the bird off Countdown and I didnt care........!
  • For all you doubters out there check out the Fink Tank in todays Times. ( I'm not very computer literate so don't know how to add to comment).
  • Here we go from the Times today

From League One, Charlton Athletic have a 99 per cent automatic promotion chance, with Sheffield United on 69 per cent, Sheffield Wednesday 24 per cent and Huddersfield Town 8 per cent. Milton Keynes Dons (96 per cent), Huddersfield (92 per cent) and Wednesday (76 per cent) are the likely play-off teams, with a hot contest between Carlisle United (58 per cent) and Stevenage (28 per cent) for the other slot. Chesterfield, Exeter City and Rochdale are going down. Wycombe Wanderers have a 60 per cent chance of joining them.
  • Great Stats Rothko, I'll take 99%!
  • 99% or not. I'm a Charlton supporter of 51 years and trust me we can blow it.
  • Given up 11 points to 3rd place in a month. We could easily blow it.

I used to have a season ticket at Selhurst Park, but I wouldn't call myself a Palace fan.

    worst case scenario:

walsall home - draw as they are fighting to stay up
carlisle away - defeat as they need win for playoffs
wycombe home - draw as they are fighting to stay up
preston away - win as meaningless for them
hartlepool - win as meaningless for them

8 points ... which is enough whatever happens to the other teams
