Phew. Three more wins will leave Utd needing to win at least six of their eight just to match us. Well and truly in the box seat now. Fecking Wednesday scoring at the death ! Thought N'Guesson was good tonight considering his match fitness nuts be suspect. MOM for me though was Cort.
we only need one more win to gain promotion. going by current form (last 10 games), hudds and MASSIVE will both struggle to get more than 84 points (and they still have to play each other).
Another below average performance but a massive and important win - which is all that mattered.
Hopefully CP will haved noticed Paul Hayes contribution at Wycombe and put aside the personal differences to improve our attacking options for the run in.
COYR !!!!!!!!!!
Prefer Hayes scoring goals against our competitors now tbh.
"We were poor tonight, really scrappy and got a bit frustrated at times when we needed to be calm. "
The run in for all teams is fraught with nerves.
Not really nerves, just players getting knackered at the end of a long season and the trouble with playing the same players week-in/week-out is that your style of play can get a bit predictable.
We gave Cort a game and brough Russell back lay weekend and introduced DNG and that gave us a bit more spark. We have a pretty good squad, but CP has been a bit reluctant to use it.
Brilliant goal and decent debut from N'guessan, yeovil midfield was very good in the first half and created some good chances but defence stood strong, I thought Cort was a brick wall tonight and would keep him in the team for huddersfield.
Much better all round. A clean sheet which is what our success is based on. Cort was dominant in the air and good on the floor, wasn't so impressed by Russell as some but very well taken goal.
Loved Waggy's Zaire moment but that typified his all action performance. Even won the free kick for the 2nd goal. Green also added extra legs when came on.
Really liked the outswinging corners from Solly and Wiggins. A few hairy moments from Hamer but otherwise OK.
Kermo back to his best. Great header for BWP goal. Brad ran all day and deserved his goal. Like n'Gussen. OK, the goal was a fluke but I had him at 6 - 1 for first goal so happy with him. Fitness seems an issue but that can be sorted.
over the last two games all the top teams have picked up 4 points but there are two fewer games for them to catch us.
Looking forward to Huddersfield now. They will have to come at us and that will suit us.
Strange game tonight, felt like it was a new team learning how to gel together. Tuesday subdued crowd and small Yeovil following (but fair play to those who turned up) didn't make for the greatest atmosphere. Our first half felt very disjointed but N'Guessan's goal helped calm nerves. In the second half we looked more like a team at the top of the table but still not the fluid style we had been graced with earlier in the season. Nevertheless BWP's and Russell's goals were well worked and taken. We won without looking like we were out of second gear all night. And the blip has been turned round (or so I hope). I can see us getting those three or four more wins needed for automatic promotion without the stuttering we have been accustomed to. Onwards and upwards now I say.
Playing N'Guessan on the left allows him to be Hamer's target from goal kicks. Means that Yann does not need to pull out to either flank whcih left BWP alone in the middle. Thought the second half was fairly good with an improtant block from Hamer at one nil.
Second half we played closer to what we're capable of and whilst 3-0 might have flattered us slightly we deserved to win.
Cort played well, but as a team we gave away 14 chances at home to a team who might be on a good run but are nowhere near as good as us. Do that against Huddersfield and Notts County might look a good memory. Wiggins and Morrison need to find some form and quickly - hopefully today's win will help with that (and Wiggins did put a couple of decent runs in towards the end of the game).
Not a great performance but we got better the longer the match went on. For the 'irregulars' Cort was excellent at the back and Dany put in a good shift for us on debut. Russell was bypassed too often in the first half but improved in the second and helped Hollands secure the midfield after the break. Wagstaff had his best 90 minutes for us IMO. He tackled well and didn't fall over once!! It shows that he can do it when pressed.
For the regulars, solid performances with BWP yet again working very hard and getting his reward, courtesy of another towering Yann header. Morro however does have a tendency (as shown at the weekend) of playing a colleague into trouble. Tonight Cort looked as if he was the established centre back. On this performance he will retain the shirt up at Huddersfield and was my MOM.
Ordinary first half, much better second. The spine looked stronger, Hamer, Cort, Hollands (outstanding all game), Kermo all played well. Great second goal straight from the training ground. Yeovil keeper made it easier than it should have been.
A bit tense before the 2nd goal, too much aimless long ball at times, but when we settled down and played it a bit, we looked dangerous.
Taylor was overdue a rest, as he's been struggling recently, and Cort is an excellent player at this level as he showed.
In other threads I've been asking for Russell to play, as we needed some more energy in midfield. He's nor perfect, but he adds some bite into the tackling and did make some decent attacking runs as the game went on, which is something we've been missing with Hollands losing his zip, and Stephens strolling around the centre circle. When was the last time a Charlton midfielder made a surging run into the box from open play to score like that?

For the second goal, Yeovil knew full well the free kick was going to be aimed for Yann but still couldn't stop him putting it on a plate for BWP.
Russell and Cort both had fantastic games. I would go as far as saying Cort is the best ariel defender we have.
Good shift from Waggy, always chasing.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. A win at Huddersfield and it will take a madman to bet against us.
COYR!!!
Very impressed with him again tonight, and overall this season.

We're so close now..

Cort definitely added something and fullbacks looked much better.
Not sure about Dany. Goal was a fluke and he was blowing out of his arse from 30mins.
To be honest performances are now irrelevant. Its all about points and we got 3 important ones.

Thought we looked nervy, in need of more width but I left happy.
I won't go on...
