and Ben Foster crocked. All we need is for Watford to hang on but have 3 players sent off in injury time and we'll be in clover...Never felt so good to be bottom of the league
Lets face it- we need have to beat West Ham, Watford and Wigan now to stand any chance of staying up. A victory against Sheffield Utd would also help the cause.
This is an acceptable result and given Watford were bottom, doesn't give Wigan much of a springboard either. We have to win our games it's in our hands. At least Wigan are not eight points plus gd ahead.
i'm happy with the draw. We've avoided the worst scenario, which was Wigan winning, and it still leavesthe emphasis largely on us ie. beating the teams at the bottom with us.
Sorry to spread doom and gloom but looking at Wigans remaining games i think it's going to be very tough to overhaul them. They don't play any of the top sides. I can't help but feel those 2 points lost at home to Fulham are going to be vital

As has been said before Chris, it won't be any dodgy refereeing decision that will send us down, it will be down to our own rubbish play for half of the season that may send us down.
Is this the same Wigan that are in Freefall? The end of the season can be as much about momentum as anything else, we are playing well without the points haul BUT if we win our next two games (if we don't then fiar enough we are down) the momentum will be firmly with us and the pressure will build onto WIgan.
Not to mention Man City who are still in trouble also.
It is hard to work out. If we win our next 2 (quite possible) with City not playing this weekend (they should be playing Ars or Chels), their game at home to wigan is huge. If they lose that they'll have 30, Wigan will possibly have 29 and we'll have 26.
surely everyone here realises we are probably going down??
The thing is we are not down yet and in with a fighting chance - but we HAVE TO beat West Ham and Wigan and one of the two games between. If we can win all 4 then we will probably stay up!
We have been playing better and now have a virtually full strength team to put out - but winning 4 in a row is hard when you haven't even managed two in a row for 60 games!!!
with Wigan having to play City, us and Sheff Utd away and West Ham at home it's certainly all to play for. Sheff Utd v Wigan last game of the season could be massive.

I'm not so sure. I reckon the games v Wigan, Man City and Sheff Utd are actually more important than West Ham and Watford. We need to catch the aforementioned three and actually beating them is much more important than beating West Ham. We need to haul the other three right into it and beating them will do this and by beating them we'll put ourselves ahead of WestHam and Watford. Don't get me wrong a win is vital on Saturday but, heaven forbid, if we don't it''s not the end of the world as long as Wigan etc don't extend the gap. Six point gap is certainly surmountable with them to play at The Valley but any more will make it very difficult.

:-((
There is a long way to go and they still have to come to us.
(Is that positive enough for everyone?)
33 Points still to play for, we need 17/18 points to 'guarantee' saftey, it's a big ask but arguably an achievable one.
Very well put.
The ball is really in OUR court now and if we beat Spammers and Wigan at The Valley then it fackin game ON.
Wigan v Newcastle
Man City v Wigan
Wigan v Fulham
Charlton v Wigan
Wigan v Bolton
Aston Villa v Wigan
Wigan v Tottenham
Liverpool v Wigan
Wigan v West Ham
Wigan v Middlesbrough
Sheff Utd v Wigan

the last thing i want to do is go up to Anfield either needing to get a result or relying on others not getting results.

uhmm, could be worse. Could be Wigan going to Sheff Utd or West Ham going to Old Trafford.
If we can't win this match, then there is no way on earth we are going to win enough of the other matches to stay up.
I make you right Large.
But imho you can forget all that if we don't win on Saturday ........ if we cannot win this match there is not a cat's chance in hell of staying up.
