Had a quick look at the League One stats for the last 5 seasons to try to get a feel for what might be needed, which may help us figure out when we will achieve promotion. The most points required for automatic promotion out of those previous seasons was in fact last season where 88 points was required. The lowest points required were in 08-09 and 07-08 when 81 points would have been enough. The average number of points required from those 5 previous seasons is 84.2.
In terms of the 78 points we have now- that tally would have seen us in 5th at the end of last season and only one point from 4th. The worst position 78 points would have got us in the previous 5 seasons was 7th in our first league One campaign when we made the play offs with 84 points. The highest 78 points would have got us was 4th in 08-09, 07-08 and 06-07.
So there is no doubting that we are despereately close - we probably need 3 more wins or 2 wins and 3 draws etc... from our remaining 12 games! If we keep going strong, we could be looking at away to Huddersfield or home to Orient when we clinch promotion and the title will follow soon after. But I think we will need to win every game to achieve this so Walsall at home in early April may be the best bet.
I've only seen us promoted in two grounds Carlisle ( twice ) and Wembley ( once ) , it would nice for us to go up at the Valley this time . The last time we did this was against Preston in 75.
As others have said it was weird last time when we went up when no game was on.

I was there at all those 4 promotions.
I really must be there at our 5th postwar promotion !!!
And don't forget next season, when I complete my own personal Grand Slam of 6 Charlton promotions (at Palarse or 6Nilwall, would be ideal)........ when we equal our own record of successive promotions to the top Division !!
If we can increase gap on Huddersfield by 4 points by the time we play them, and the 2 points increase on the Massive, we could be promoted at Huddersfield if we win and Massive lose
