  • like a lot of 'fans' you wouldn't see hide nor hair nor hear a peep from him if we were struggling against relegation. Celebrities are always around when there's a bandwagon upon which to jump. Good luck to him, you gotta make hay while the sun is shining
That'll be why he's been going down there regularly for the past four or fives seasons at least then - to revel in our glory years.

You really need to stop talking about things you clearly know nothing about mate, it's getting embarrassing now.
First time I saw Jimbo down at The Valley was for the Les Berry testimonial v Arsenal, 1984 I believe, a long time before the glory years
Yes, TESTIMONIAL, a show biz event when Jim was still an up and coming wannabe and would appear naked in the centre circle for a few headlines. I know JD from Blackheath years and years ago .. he's OK and his number one interest is JIM . I have no problem with that at all
The fella is Charlton, I have seen Davidson in concert, you have to be broadminded to go but you know that beforehand. I cannot see what the problem is, by the sounds of it you would like him to have an exclusion order from all grounds in the country!
What on earth led you to that conclusion ? .. your name suggests you are a Swede (NOT a turnip) .. perhaps my typing lost something in translation
English actually but lived in Sweden for fourteen months hence the name Elfsborg, the team I supported whilst out there.
Don't worry, he loves winding people up ... bit like Jim Davidson really ;-)
Lincs and Nathan Prior would make a good double act then
  • I like it when people slag my dad off.
  • Blimey. I'm as liberal and lefty and and Observer reading as you'll find on this message board but I worked on a Davidson concert and he was ok - put it this way I would prefer to see him than I would, say, Frankie Boyle or maybe Stewart Lee, for example. The Bournemouth thing, well, I wasn't putting my life savings into CAFC in 1984 either. But mostly, we don't have to pass a test before watching us so let's have a bit of live and let live or something.
  • Whatever happened to that Austrian fella with the funny little tash who used to lead the singing in the covered end back in the early 30's?

    Prey tell? :-0

I really cannot see what the whole problem is. He is a Charlton fan who does not lord it up and drinks with the fans and that alone should be applauded.
  • I won't get involved. EXCEPT to say .. because I sometimes have different opinions to many fellow 'lifers' doesn't make me a wind up artist. I express my opinion or comment on the opinions of others mostly seriously (this is only a football forum after all) and sometimes in a humorous manner, like most others on here .. As for MASS public opinion.... at one time the consensus was that the earth was flat .. there are a LOT of flat earthers on here .. trouble is you don't know who you are ... as for Sweden, I spent a while there and have kin in Norway .. I really like Scandinavia, not as much as Lincolnshire though .. have fun y'all

i'm a charlton fan who doesnt lord it up. i also have had drinks with other charlton supporters. do i get applauded? do-i-fuck.
  • I remember seeing him at the old midweek league reserve matches at the valley in the mid 1970s. Parked his beat up roller outside the old main stand. Saw him once wearing a comedy rubber mask. Phil Warman could'nt play, peeing himself laughing. No matter what you think of him he's Charlton through the bad time's and the good.

  • JD was very supportive of John Robinson's testimonial year.

My goodness, that filth Alaistair Campbell is a Burnley fan - imagine having him around.

JD is a saint by comparison.

So what? Perhaps next time you see some celeb giving it the big one, thinking because they earn dough they are better than you, then PERHAPS it can be appreciated that Davidson does not do this

I saw a gig in Croydon in 2005, he was very fruity but you know what you are getting. It sold out and nobody booed or walked out

The earth still is flat where you are.

Anyway, no need to explain. Some of us got your number ages ago.

good for him. when money comes along these celebrities can believe they are better than you. I’m glad he can be a modest down to earth bloke. but so can i. and so can alot of people. its having respect and empathy with others. It’s being a reasonable human being. It’s nothing new. it should be celebrated but just to celebrate him for doing it is a bit ridiculous. If you’re a fan of him then you would like this aspect of his personality. If you’re not that bothered about him you just think well alright at least he's not an arse as many in his position seem to be. However to applaud him is a bit extreme. Just because he is a celebrity he needs further appreciation than the rest of us seems a bit patronising.

  • I dont understand why everyone gets so defensive over him. He's a Charlton supporter who used to be famous - makes him no better or worse than anyone else.
His humour is dated-happens to most comics
  • I think Lincsaddick believes he's perfect.

Bjorn Borg is a Charlton fan, I wonder when we will see him at The Valley next?

People get defensive as it seems as soon as his name is mentioned others want to get on here and have a pop for no particular reason.

  • I think Lincsaddick believes he's perfect.
all this about him being a regular at the valley for the past 20 years blah blah blah .. I thought he lived in Dubai for most of that time .. If he's come back to blighty cos he's skint and bored and needs to redevelop his street cred, good luck to him .. I'm just sick of all this idolatory and adulation from people on here . f f s .. get some self respect y'all

For the same reason that some feel the need to slate him....
