  • Not my cup of tea as a comedian but so what. Think he's a bitter man or at least that's how he comes across to me. Right wing gobshite but then again so what. Couple of years older than me and went to my secondary school where he was to be avoided as a bully. Interesting to hear he was at the match yesterday and if he was cheering us on then good for him.
  • Blimey, can we just for once mention Jim D. without the moral battle over his past?
Couldnt we avoid this by just not bothering to mention him.
    What Bollox!

Yeh, whatever, keep up the good work.
Well honestly wmt.......I mean to say all things are surely open to discussion and comment on here......so we shoudn't discuss JD now then, is that what you're saying?
What would happen if we applied that to any subject to which there could be any degree of discourse.........there would be no message board would there.
Taking your comment to the enth degree, this would pretty soon become a very boring message board don't you think.

  • I make this the 45th thread about Jim Davidson on here - and it's ended up the same way as the previous 44.

What next, a "new" thread about Celtic/Rangers?

But the first one about him sitting in with us away fans and singing..........which I thought was worth mentioning because of some of the adverse comments about his degree/level of true loyalty in the past!

  • Lots of people like him. That's fine.
    I absolutely can't stand him.
Like you say each to their own.
Do we really need a thread every time he goes to a game?

Funny how it's the people who don't like him don't want him mentioned!

I know. Just commenting about the way these things always seem to end up.

couldn't agree more ... he's a fan and was at the game ... that's all this post is meant to be about ... but typical CL it gets hijacked by the moralists

Some like him, some don't ... that's all there is to it ... blimey you'd think he was a bloody mass murderer the way some people go on about him
  • Very good on Big Break

    It's only a game, so
Put up a real good fight.
    I'm gonna be
    Snookering you tonight.

I'm famed for my aim, so
    You'd better believe I'm right.
    I'm gonna be
    Snookering you, snookering you tonight.

    BIG BREAK!

Pot as many balls as you can!

Like old JD, and he's a Tory? Like him even more!

Well that's true Off-it........I guess he'll always court controversey and divided opinions............but at the end of the day he's an Addick.

    What a no-legs comment!

lol. What does he mean when he says no legs? Never heard of it before.

    I like Jim.

And ex director of Afc Bournemouth during the mid eighties. True addick :-)

Our Chairman (or is he chief exec whatever he is) is a Man City fan.. a true Addick also.
  • I don't imagine Jim and I would agree on much, apart from the fact that he is a true Charlton fan. Had a box for years and is currently going to home and away games at the moment. Good on him.
  • Times change and so does perceptions of what is acceptable to be funny. I mean, you can watch only fools and hear lines which are not acceptable now days.

It mans it isnt going anywhere.... although the moral brigade will probably find that metaphor appauling now

Very true. Our chairman put his money in the club when we were in serious trouble.true addick
Jim put his money into bornemouth when charlton were playing away at palace and the club needed all the financial help they could get at that time

Maybe JD didn't see Charlton as a viable business opportunity at the time. Doesn't mean that he's not a true supporter.

But he's supporting us now when in League one so hardly chasing glory. Anyway I dont even know why im discussing this. he was at game yesterday think that was the point of the thread.

Jim Davidson has been entertaining our boys and girls in the armed forces for years before wearing wrist bands was fashionable. He deserves a lot of credit for that.

    Excellent point!

  • Top bloke
  • I went to school with cameron and believe me he is charlton through and through
  • Judge as you find.....top bloke for me. Those sensitive souls who don't like his humour don't have to listen!
  • All those that don't like him wouldn't complain if he ended up sitting them next game.
  • Like the Celtic / Rangers debates JD divides opinion.

Surely some things like domestic violence which he admitted regarding Alison Holloway his third wife , overt racism and homophobia can never be justified and as a patriotic Brit why does he live abroad to avoid tax ?

His previous involvement with Bournemouth coincided with us nearly going out of business it actually predated Selhurst Park .

I was told at the time that Charlton were interested in him coming on board but he choose to go to the Cherries where he used to do the summer season at a local thearte .
  • There really are some precious twats on here. Glad to see JD was at the game along with 1800~ others, wish I could of been there!
  • Considering my comment had 'no legs' it seems to have generated a lot of response.
  • It's a good job there isn't a "fit and proper person" test before becoming a football supporter.
The fact he supports Charlton is good enough for me.

    .
  • like a lot of 'fans' you wouldn't see hide nor hair nor hear a peep from him if we were struggling against relegation. Celebrities are always around when there's a bandwagon upon which to jump. Good luck to him, you gotta make hay while the sun is shining
