  • Spill the beans..... Although not over that bloke in the north west quadrant!
  • Covered End claimed all the credit for summer re-building.

  • What did Monsieur Slater say then chaps...?
  • is he still running the Marathon
  • Covered End set for summer re-building.

    wow!
  • It was an interesting evening last night and I sat with two Charlton legends Ollie Lewis and Headphones Norm and got to meet Fanny and Henry.

The panel consisted of Kavanagh , Powell and Slater and unsurprisingly SCP took most of the question . I didn't take notes and I am sure I will have missed bits but this is what I remember in no particular order.

On the question of a new stadium on the Greenwich Peninsular Kavanagh didn't really add to his public statement but compared the situation with what had happened about the Olympic site in Stratford where Leyton Orient , Spurs and West Ham had this bun fight . He said we needed to stay in front of developments and not allow another club to muscle into our geographic area.

Likewise on the question of the club's ownership Slater was guarded and didn't say anything new .

The question of the Incest song was raised and Kavanagh said that there is not much that could be done but they would look at the allegation that the Drummer encouraged the singing of it at the Stevenage game .

    On Football matters

Kavanagh and Powell predicted that we would have seven subs again next year but that there might be a stipulation that there might need to be a few of the squad under 21.

When asked about entering a Reserve League . It seems it is only the Premier League who have a full Reserve League now.Kavanagh indicated that there might be Under 21 league formed and that this would have a facility for three overage players .

They used their two days in the north last week to look at both Manchester United and Manchester City's training grounds and Slater indicated that City have a preferred list of clubs that they loan players to and they would want to see how a player develops within the club who he is sent to .

Powell said it is unlikely that Mikel Alonso would play in our first team again unless there was an emergency because of his injuries and then the emergence of Pritchard and the purchase of Russell . He also indicated that Andy Hughes has been injured recently which would explain partly why he has not featured much .

SCP said Hogan Ephraim wanted to return to QPR after his loan expired to try his luck but now he was not in the 25 man squad that he might be an option in the future.

In terms of Jeff Vetere they seemed to infer that most of the signings last summer were from our own domestic scouting network and it was confirmed that Vetere's knowledge of European lower league football was not used much . SCP felt that we needed players that understood L1 which is why we raided the likes of Bournemouth ,Dagenham , Exeter and Oldham instead of going to get players from European leagues . The top table seemed to indicate that Vetere would reemerge with a Premier League club at some stage who might have better use for his talents than we did whilst in L1.

In terms of last years squad SCP named Anyinsah , Llera and Reid as players who showed glimpses of ability last season who were marginal decisions about retaining.
  • Thanks for that Richard
  • 'The purchase of Russell' - have we bought him permanently then? I thought he was just on loan until the end of the season.

    Thanks anyway.
  • Purchase was my word Epsom , SCP explained why Alonso was down the pecking order and listed the players in fornt of him .
  • Thanks Richard. Nothing on potential targets for the summer?

  • No names were mentioned but SCP said that there were a few players who had impressed him in L1.

    .
WTF has football come to? Don't suppose the person who is accusing "the Drummer" thought about having a quiet word with him before possibly getting him banned/ singled out in a bad light for a song that I'm sure many of us have participated in in the past.

Fair enough if not and understand the argument that gets rolled out about not wanting aggro but all seems a bit snidey accusing one individual to the board and team manager and then singling out the easily identifiable accused out on the internet without a solid foundation.

Don't sing it now as i think it was good as a one off against the country bumpkin teams years ago and it's cringeworthy now but find it all a bit sneaky running to tell teacher and singling someone out and then posting it on the internet so everybody that sees a bloke banging a drum thinks he's a **** because he's alleged to have started that song.

Im going to go to football from now on and keep well schtum in case someone decides to grass me up to Chris Powell in the future and then I read on here that "....and yes the club said they will look into the accusations of the distgustingly good looking bastard in the Covered End who allegedly accused the ref of partaking in spanking the monkey".

    Unbelievable Jeff.
  • Shit song, sung by idiots, backed by the outraged

    Whos backing it?

  • Any thing regarding next years kit ?
  • They only confirmed what we know anyway .

That there is a long term contract with Macron which had two years to run and that they would have to terminate that before we could speculate about new suppliers.
