Firstly, stating the obvious, I don't think it is our problem anymore it's Wednesdays so we shouldn't go gloating about it. My view of Semedo hasn't changed - for me he is an excellent water carrier but needs the right midfielder next to him or to play as part of a three. Certainly Championship standard in the right side. What you get with him is a good engine and good tackling, he does the simple odds and ends well but you also get very little if any attacking imputous. Chrissy was trying to get him playing a bit more offensively last season but it really isn't his game although he did get a goal.
I suppose when others are doing the offensive job, you see his qualities much more clearly, but if those players dip a bit or he plays with the wrong partner he can pose a manager a big problem. We had many discussions of course on how to best accomodate him given that he was probably one of our better players before this season so it is no surprise if Wednesday fans do the same. Now we have a very different midfield and we are better for it but it doesn't mean Semedo is rubbish - just a bit more difficult to accommodate and possibly League One isn't the right division for him.
Yep, slate and abuse Mooney/Benson even when they put in a shift, and TRIED. Meanwhile sing SEMEDO's song en masse even when he's playing utter utter shite. Millwall away springs to mind (the most humiliated I've felt as a Charlton fan).
And we wonder why people leave and then slate the fans...
Look at the team now for god sake. Semedo is in the same category as detritus like Racon, Halford, Hasselbaink, Bent (M), Butterfield, McCormack, Bouazza, Cook, that waster right-back from pompey and all the other pond-life we've had tarnish our name over the last few years.
Thank f**k for the squad we have now... onwards and upwards...

Man wear my team shirt Now he no wear my team shirt Me hate that man
Grow up. He actually put in a shift for the club when no one else would. All you have to do is look at how he was practically in tears when he scored that goal at home last season.

Who is saying they hate him?? People are just giving their opinion that he is a limited player.
The point I was making was towards the end of his stay in SE7 it seemed to me he had lost his way a little?
Then he went to the massive who thought they had signed god and were raving about him all season!
A few Charlton told them that sometimes he goes missing in games but they waen't having none of it. Now it seems they can see what we were going on about?
Their problem isn't really Semedo - they are just a bit short overall quality wise in relation to the top teams. They have been all season and IMO have done well to stay in touch but I always thought Huddersfield were more of a threat and Sheff United had more quality although it was a question of how well they would adapt to the new league - I think we'll see that play out now as the season goes on. Wednesday needed to do some good business in January and if anything came out of it weaker.
Liked the bloke for his attitude but there's no room for anybody who treats the ball like a hot potato in the centre of midfield. My view has and never will change on that. Good luck to him.
He was reasonable for us last season, hence the POTS award, but in a very poor team. If BWP had played a full season with us, he possibly would have got it - he was in the PFA L1 team of the season. Similarly JJ was injured. That sort of defensive midfielder, who tackles a lot but can't go forward, isn't hard to find at this level, it's the ones with drive, skill and flair that win you the games. Someone like Andy Hughes could have done a similar job last season.
Get Error Occurred when I've I've tried both the links to ths Semedo comments on Owlstalk - says I don't have permission. They aren't stopping others getting to see their comments are they?

Princess, ignore the link - just go straight to Owlstalk in your browser, or via Google etc.

They are changing their views on him now!
Saying in the paper they need to stop 'ponsing' about. Long may it continue.
