  • Felt for them to a certain extent when I first started reading as we know all to well what it's like being a team with expectations and binning matches you could win, but then I stopped feeling sorry when I read all the 'we can't even beat this shower' garbage. Even as their season slips further and further away from what they thought it would be they still have that MASSIVE arrogance. Exeter are a decent side, especially at home and they don't concede many goals. Considering Weds don't score many they should have known a result like this could happen but still they insult the 'smaller' teams. Oh well eh, maybe a decade in this league will chill them out a bit
  • I'm well pleased with this. Thank you Exeter. Feels like a win for us.
  • We can't be too smug for now, however with Huddersfield playing Blades and Wendy playing Steve on Tuesday, we could really be out of sight if we can beat MK. I just hope that the rest has allowed our forwards to find their scoring boots again or else Tuesday could end up being a real struggle.

I'm kind of glad it's MK on Tuesday. Maybe we'll focus better against a better side after a forced layoff.

Some Sheffield Wednesday fans were saying earlier in the season that:
Semedo was a steal from us, would weaken us and Morrison is rubbish.
They didn't rate Chris Powell, he simply doesn't have the right stuff.
Gary Megson, backed by Mandaric would have the nous to succeed this season.
Our team would take at least half of the season to gel so would achieve nothing.
The draw they got at the Valley was Wednesday at their worst, and when we go to Hillsborough we would find out.
They have seen us periodically, on the TV and the like, and 'Charlton ain't all that'.
They should win this league because Charlton are a 'tin pot' club.
They will win because they are powerful, but our 'tippy tappy' football will lead to us losing loads of matches in this division.
They are a massive club with such a rich and vibrant history they are destined for success this season, but Charlton are nobodies.
They ran Alfreton Town so close, and Charlton would have no chance of getting a comparably good result against Alfreton.

Sheffield Wednesday could learn some lessons in graciousness and decency from Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town.

Humble pie is not easy to swallow Seth. I think Wednesday have a very large portion on order.

That'll be a MASSIVE portion then!
  • Don't forget their £15 million war chest in January that produced a washed-up former Palace youth product on loan and a bloke from Bury
  • Funny how you can find a club inoffesive and off the radar for years and within a season a result like this warms the cockles. Massive result.

Exeter is one of those 'beat anyone on their day' teams .. and today was a massive day .. albeit a very cold one .. Sheffield United will prove a bigger danger than Wednesday or Huddersfield, they play better football and have a good team ethic

    Absolutely right
  • Nice one exeter!!!

that scrappy 1-0 down there for us really was a cracking result

Best summary of the Wendies I've heard. As much as I respect the name of Sheffield Wednesday as one of those grand old English football clubs with a fantastic ground, the arrogance that many of them have shown has turned me completely against them.

Exeter pushed us all the way that day.
Great team ethic and never gave up.

    Underestimate them at your peril.

    (perhaps the Howls now know?)

  • You have to earn the right to go to smaller teams and play football and the massive haven't yet.
    Great win for Exeter.

This is why the Massive are not liked by many fans in this league just one thread on there forum

    Exeter, Bury, Walsall, Stevenage

We have lost to all of these jokers away from home this season. Utterly disgraceful

They feel that because they have a great history and a large following they should win these games easily. Maybe they will learn when they play them all again next season.

We were the same 2 years ago (other than the large following)
  • We still are in a way mate , the lack of respect some fans show to other teams that beat us or get a draw is embarrassing at times

The difference for us is that our team earn the respect for us ,

weds fans, mgr, chairman, players all think the same too big , too strong ,too massive for league 1

I stick with my comment that weds will still be in league 1 next season said it in October and will repeat it in April when they are unable to reach theft playoffs

Owlstalk has gone into meltdown! just read it playing Sheff Utd on 26th of Feb , think they will panic and try and bring in some loan signings.

'Fraid you're right and we were even worse first season the championship.
We are just further ahead than the Wendies on the learning curve
  • I dont think sheffield wednesday have the right to call themselves massive now.

Could do with the Wendies beating Sheff Utd to be honest.
  • The "you'll never beat Semedo" flag draped limply in the wendies end made me smile........
  • I dont think sheffield wednesday have the right to call themselves massive now.
I like this quote from Owlstalk

Because although we are MASSIVE we are also unfortunately sh!te.

  • Going back to my earlier comment I've only read on here and starting posting this season.
I would say now we respect teams in this league and we are doing that by the players on the pitch rather than the name of our club.
Even though Tranmere next Saturday aren't a huge name in the footballing map. You know for a fact that Powell will have everyone up for it. Could you say the same to Mugson's players

Or to put it another way..........A MASSIVE load of shyte!

  • Oh dear, was talking to one of the Exeter Grecian Player presenters last night, apparently earlier in the season Megson had labelled them as a Sunday league side, and been his usual graceless self, they were up for it yesterday, ideally Sheff Wed now fail spectaculalry in the play-offs....
  • Wednesday fans have also turned on Gary Madine.

Interesting that (mostly) we have kept faith and kept singing about BWP, despite his lack of goals, whereas Madine goes a few games without one and they demand that he be dropped.
