What do people think of Motorhead's cover of David Bowie's Heroes? I've been a massive Bowie fan for over 40 years and I love it. Lemmy certainly puts his own mark on it, even changes a lot of the lyrics!
not exactly classic but Mark Kozelek's cover of Onward by Yes really brings hone what a good song it is hidden in the sometimes overlooked Yes later catalogue

Bauhaus - Telegram Sam Rachid Taha - Rock El Casbah (The studio version is better than The Clash's, many of the live recordings feature Mick Jones on guitar) Richard Cheese - Creep
Disturbed version of the Simon & Garfunkel classic The Sound of Silence is absolutely awesome and dare I say it, IMHO, it’s even better. David Draiman has the finest rock singers voice I have ever heard.......and I’ve heard many in my time. So powerful, so huge a sound yet so beautifully controlled. Sublime. Can someone put up a link please......I don’t know how to do it.

Mike d’Abo wrote it and Chris Farlowe released it first.
