A cover of an original by a band who made a reputation on covers. Still a great song.

Yep, far worse. Shatner's cover was just naff, Boone's was an attempt to emasculate rock and roll

Tutt-Tutt - given your post on the 1977 thread, what do you think of Mansun's cover of Shot by both Sides?

Worst cover - All Saints version of Under The Bridge. Insipid.
  • The Pretenders = I go to sleep
Rod Stewart - Handbags and Gladrags
    John Cale - Hallelujah
The Byrds - Mr. Tambourine Man
Hendrix = All along the watchtower
No Doubt - It's my life
  • Black Crowes - Hard To Handle

Johnny Cash covering Nick Lowe's The Beast In Me
Have to agree with the Black Crowes choice, sometimes I think it betters Otis's original.
As for Johnny Cash, would have to pick his cover of 'Hurt'. Truly beautiful.

Echo & the Bunnymen - People are Strange
The Byrds - Lay Lady Lay (with the gospel choir)
