  • Man up. Either tell her to shut up, or do one.
  • what does she want to do instead that is so brilliant?
  • no. Been married too long to bother with Clinton Cards day. Total rip off.
  • Exactly Macronate, what can be better than going to Charlton?!
  • I Quite lucky, My Wife is ok with it, Football, Than take her out for a meal.
  • Can't you just bring her with you then have a meal before or after the game?
  • The click is to set your stall nice an early
  • My Mrs said I wouldn't go if I loved her and I said if she loved me she wouldn't have said that
  • Mrs and I having a pre-match curry in Greenwich and no 'special' Valentine menu!
  • Every day is Valentine's Day in my house!

    No.
  • At least you have someone. I'M SO LONELY

    Absolutely spot on.
  • i'm with siblers on this one !!

only one good thing with being divorced -no hassle from the missus re football etc
  • Just go to the game. what is the worst that can happen?
  • Women come and go, there are plenty more out there. Charlton are for life.
  • They knew the fixture at the beginning of the season, no reason to moan.
  • my Missus never even realised. Said only today that I would be ok to have the car next Tuesday as she had no craft group that night. Ignorance is bliss.
  • Im f*cked, always a *special* night. Although that does mean should get a return! One 90 minute win, one........feel free to fill in blanks!

  • From day one I told the mrs I didn't believe in that rubbish.

If you can't treat the other half with love and respect all year round then it's pointless being with them.

Only once has she ever complained we didn't do anything so I told her she was welcome to have a meal , flowers and chocolates on the 14th feb but don't expect to get all the treats she currently gets throughout the rest of the year. Subject was swiftly dropped
  • I always thought Valentine's Day was day when you proffessed your love to someone and not for married couples. I think it is something the card and gift sellers have latched on to to make money, like fathers day and grandparents day. I have bought my wife a card as it would look bad if I didn't and it was only 99p in the card factory. I invested enough money in valentines gifts before we got married anyway! She comes to the Valley with me so not a problem and I'll buy her a romatic meal in MacDonalds or she can have a Wimpy at the ground if we are running a bit late.

    Do women come :)
  • They do when I work my magic!
  • The club should get some stickers made up.
Charlton Athletic is not just for Valentine, it for life.
  • Just don't EVER go out with someone who is not willing to take an interest in your hobbies and pass times. Use your head rather than your "old chap" when choosing a partner. Simple.

Play him this. He'll stop just so you don't ever play it again. Used to love stuff like this back in the day.

My dad gave me these pearls of wisdom when I got married many years ago 'Start as you mean to go on son'. Fortunately my other half accepted me for what I was, abandoned attempts at quelling my sporting interests early doors and has never tried to change me since. Still happily married and I am going to the game with her blessing. So remember 'what you see is what you get, I am what I am! Enjoy the game but remember to duck as you open the door when you get home!
  • Brilliant comments, she seems to think I'm the only one going to the game.I told her the attendance will be bigger than last Tuesday evening and she said no way it will be the lowest attendance of the season as not all men are like me!
  • She's right though, not all men are like you. Some are taking their wives to the game - perhaps she'd like you to do that?
